Our Frances Warde House team recently brainstormed some great new ways to uplift our mothers and help them bring more positive value to each other's lives.
“We want to help them build a strong community. By sharing their skills, they can create a powerful network of knowledge that reduces emotional stress and increases trust and support within the group. To make this happen, we started a new activity in our Friday Soft Life Skills class. Now, each woman will have the opportunity to teach a specific skill to the rest of the group,” states Micky Bondo, IHP Co-Founder/Leadership Coach.
Ariane Nshimirimana, IHP Program Coordinator, teacher and Cross-Cultural Communication Facilitator, shared her observations from the first class.
“During our first class, our first two presenters showed us that they are chefs! Our two chef leaders who taught us how to prepare African donuts and poulet mayo arrived dressed neatly, with clean makeup and proper kitchen outfits. Everyone laughed at how different they looked from their usual cooking-at-home style, where they sometimes cook in their pajamas. You could feel the pride in the room, especially from one participant who is usually very shy. While teaching, she appeared confident and at ease. Many people were deeply moved by how naturally she shared her knowledge and stepped into that confidence.”
Ongoing sessions include making African donuts, preparing Poulet Mayo, and a makeup workshop, offering participants a variety of hands-on experiences.
