Our Village Gardens got to speak with the incomparable (author of Braiding Sweethgrass along with other titles). Sharing with her the work that we are doing while being affirmed by her was a pure fanboy moment. We look forward to working with her organization in the near future and continuing the work.

Keeping it moving with the New Year energy we partnered with the AmeriCorps NCCC Forest Corps Team (who had already volunteered with us on the Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service) tis past Saturday at the Seeds of Harmony Community Garden.

They came through and got busy! Through their work a huge invasive blackberry bush that was centered around a tree just outside of the garden was handled! The work that they put in was epic.During the work we found several objects that had been lost to the bramble. We are thankful for the work and dedication that they put in.

We also were able to connect around history as Our Village Gardens worked in conjunction with Americorp back in 2009 to help set up some of the physical structures in the garden. Also ALife was part of one of the inaugural Americorp classes of 1993 working with Americorps via the L.E.A.P. (Leadership Education Athletics in Partnership) in New Haven, CT. We made a full circle return. Again we are grateful for the work they put in and their presence.
