Peninsula PTA The Peninsula PTA is caregivers community members and staff, working together to support our school. If you have a student here, you’re already part of the PTA!

Welcome to Peninsula in North Portland! The neighborhood school of Kenton. We welcome current families, alumni, neighbors and other school groups to our page. In 2016 we changed from a K-8 to a K-5. In 2015 we welcomed a new Principal. In 2021 we lost our new Principal and welcomed and Interim Principal. In 2021 we partnered with PPS and funded Peninsulas new Playground !

Join us Wednesday, October 28th from 6-7:30 pm for Peninsula Elementary’s Fall Festival — a night of games, crafts, and community fun for families!

Planting and a little ribbon-cutting magic!

Come celebrate the transformation of our schoolyard at Peninsula Elementary on Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM–1 PM!

We’ll be planting native plants, celebrating our green spaces, and officially marking this exciting milestone for our school community. Whether you’re ready to dig in, or view the Elbow Room commissioned artwork there’s a place for you here.

🌿 All ages welcome
🧤 Please only RSVP if you want to be on a planting team!
💚 Ribbon cutting around 11. Come for 20 min or stay for the whole party!

Huge thanks to our partners at Denis Patiño and for helping bring this greener, more welcoming schoolyard to life. Our mentors Eco-School Network for continuing to support changemakers in schools. And Harper's Playground for your thoughtful advice.

Our friends and neighbors at James John Elementary James John Elementary PTA in St. Johns spent time this weekend decorating Peninsula’s porch with messages of love and solidarity. James John is also slated to close in both of the proposed scenarios from Portland Public Schools .

It’s been a rough week for our community. And yet we’re still here and we can still take care of each other. Here are some ways you can channel your feelings to get involved helping Panthers large and small in the coming weeks. ❤️

Have you tripped over that pile of your kid’s too-small clothes one too many times and this is the week it’s all going out the window? Instead, see if you have any gently used pants to bring to the school clothing closet. Bring donations to the front office during school hours.

Do you process hard news by rage cleaning? We’ve got the ultimate mess for you to tidy: The Field. Sign up for a P**p Patrol shift on the PTA website and feel the tension melt away with every bag.

Did you spend last night scrubbing the grout in your shower into the wee hours to wind down from the week? Help your fellow Panthers do the same by donating cleaning and hygiene products to our Lobby Pantry. Donations accepted at the front office during school hours.

Do you find calm in putting a space in order when the world around you is so out of order? Help Ms. Paige by shelving library books each Friday! Sign up on the PTA’s website.

The reality that 2026 might host the last-ever Peninsula Fall Fest has hit us hard. We plan to make it as joyful as possible, but we can’t do it without your help. Please visit the PTA website to find a link to the Volunteer Signup. Pouring slushies and slinging pizza for hungry kids just might be what the doctor ordered.

The news of the PPS rightsizing proposals carries immense weight for Peninsula and our greater North Portland community. As we all process the information together and individually, let’s continue to show up for each other, prioritize our students, and find ways to celebrate our incredible community throughout the school year.
