Meet Isaac and Chris.
Brothers who made the most of their summers at Camp Susan Curtis by stepping outside their comfort zones, trying new things, and encouraging each other along the way.
Isaac put it best: “Always try to help others if they need it. And always try something new and do stuff if you can, even if you don’t want to. Because if you don’t push yourself you’ll never learn new stuff and never have the feeling of going somewhere.”
For Isaac, that meant trying basketball for the first time and finding a new favorite. For Chris, who usually spent more time indoors, it meant discovering how much he enjoyed being outside. Through the OWLs program, he learned to start a fire, read a map and pitch a tent, then put those new skills to use on an overnight camping trip.
They made new friends, discovered new interests, and built confidence and independence along the way. That’s what summer at Camp Susan Curtis is all about: giving Maine kids the space to explore what they’re capable of.
