Kickoff!
The kickoff of the reconstruction of the 1821 Gildersleeve store - to include the reconstruction of the historic floors, walls, windows and doors - was on October 8. The store is at 492 Main Street, behind our museum. Members of the Society were joined by our builders: Bordonaro Masonry, and Kronenberger & Sons Restoration; architect Mark Aldieri, Michael Pelton - Portland First Selectman, Jim Tripp - Selectman, Preservation Connecticut, and many others. Stay tuned for updates! Completion of the weathertight shell is expected by the end of the year, with the interior to be completed in the new year. The Society wants to thank all the supporters who have donated generously to this project. Thank you to Terry Grady for all the pictures he took!
