The members of the Portland Rotary Club would like to recognize a truly special member of our community, Ram Chavez.
For many years, Ram has been the driving force behind the Corpus Christi Veterans' Band. Through his leadership, dedication, and love of music, he has helped honor our nation's veterans and bring patriotic pride to countless ceremonies and community events. His passion has touched the lives of so many throughout the Coastal Bend.
The Portland Rotary Club has been privileged to know Ram and the members of the Veterans' Band for many years. One of our favorite Memorial Day traditions is providing dinner for the band during the Portland Memorial Day Ceremony. While the meal is a small gesture, it has always been our way of saying "thank you" to the incredible musicians, and especially to Ram, for helping make that day so meaningful for our community.
We were saddened to learn that Ram is facing some health challenges. Ram, and family, please know that your Rotary family in Portland is thinking about you, praying for you, Your kindness, leadership, and commitment to honoring our veterans have made a lasting impact, and we are grateful for everything you have done.
Ram, thank you for your years of service, your dedication to our veterans, and the joy and pride you have brought to so many through your music.
