🌟 Calling Future Leaders! 🌟
The Rotary Club of Portland is excited to share an incredible opportunity for local high school students •RYLA+ (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)! 💙💛
RYLA+ gives students the opportunity to build real-world leadership skills through fun, challenging and hands-on experiences. Students work on skills including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, decision-making and community engagement.
📅 March 5–7, 2027
📍 Camp Zephyr
💻 Online Convocation: February 28, 2027
RYLA+ is about more than attending a leadership camp. Students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, learn to work with others and discover the strengths they can bring to a team.
Interested students can scan the QR code on the flyer to begin the application process. Applications will be sent to the student’s local Rotary Club for review.

We also want to give another BIG thank you to Ron Hiatt, Sue Zimmerman, Ashley Harrison, and Tom Yardley for giving their time to help install the American flags for the parade. 🇺🇸 Your hard work helped make the celebration even more special!

The City of Gregory and G.I.V.E. invite our community to come together on Saturday, September 12th for an evening honoring our country, our veterans, and 250 years of America! ❤️🤍💙
🎖️ 6:00 PM – Veterans Band of Corpus Christi performance at the Gregory Community Center
🇺🇸 7:30 PM – Patriotic Parade
🎆 Following the parade – Emilia V. Solis Firework Display
🎶 Plus live entertainment, food trucks, a pep rally & more!
Veterans are especially invited to join us for the Veterans Band program, including a special recognition of those who have served. 🇺🇸
Families, churches, civic organizations, and local businesses are also invited to participate in the parade!

📚🗳️ Staying Informed in Our Community
At our September 8th meeting, the Portland Texas Rotary Club welcomed G-PISD Superintendent Dr. Michelle Cavazos, who shared information about the upcoming 2026 Attendance Credit Election and what it means for G-PISD and our community.
We appreciate Dr. Cavazos taking the time to help our members better understand recapture, attendance credits, and the choices voters will see on the November ballot.
Rotary is about more than service: it’s also about staying engaged, informed, and connected to the community we serve. 💙💛
