We planted onions this week! 🧅🌱

This is where it starts, tiny seedlings going into the ground that will become a whole summer harvest.

If you’ve been curious about growing your own food or being part of a community garden, this is your sign ✨

🌿 Albina Garden Cooperative is welcoming new members! 🧑‍🌾

Looking for a way to connect with nature, grow food, and build community in North Portland? Come garden with us.

Albina Garden Cooperative is a member-run garden rooted in organic practices, land stewardship, and collective care. Together we cultivate nearly 2 acres of land while learning from one another and growing food in the heart of the city.

Members have access to shared growing space, opportunities to learn from experienced gardeners, and a collaborative decision-making process where every voice matters.

🌱 Membership is sliding scale:
$50–$100 for individuals
$66–$200 for households/families

Work trades are available if cost is a barrier. We also offer free memberships for BIPOC members in recognition of the historical context of the Albina neighborhood.

A portion of our harvest is donated to local food banks as part of our commitment to mutual aid.

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or planting your first seed, you are welcome here.

📧 Email [email protected] to learn more about membership or ways to get involved. Please share this post with anyone who might be interested!

Preserving the harvest, together. 🍅✨ Our members gathered for a canning workshop at the Black & Brown Herb Exchange Kitchen (.pdx), where we turned garden-fresh tomatoes and onions into jars of pure magic — tomato sauce and onion jam!

Huge thanks to BBHX for welcoming us into their beautiful kitchen. 💛 It was such a fun, hands-on day of learning, laughter, and community care.

Our weekly food donations have begun! Every week we donate whatever we have in abundance to the food pantry. This week’s harvest was 30lbs! It included apples, collards, kale, lettuce as well as garlic scapes and assorted herbs and flowers.

Thanks to members for planting and caring for crops in Spring so that we have such an abundance to share now.

A bountiful arrangement from the garden going to Thursday BIPOC weekly pantry! 🧡 We are thrilled to be donating weekly to this pantry and support the vital work does. This weeks donation includes zucchini, cucumbers, peppers, melons, tomatoes, green onions, beans, kale, basil and strawflowers! 🌻

As we continue to balance our membership being entirely made up of volunteers + the abundance of produce in season right now, we are also starting to embrace the shift into fall and slowing down. We won’t be accepting new members until next Spring, but we gladly accept volunteers through November at our work parties, every first and third Saturday. For more info, feel free to email us to get signed up or visit website! 🪱💚
