Irvington Elementary School is a special place, full of dedicated staff members, diverse students, and caring families.

We love our school. It’s a community hub, a place for our kids to learn and grow, the center of our neighborhood, and a home away from home.

The future of Irvington is uncertain, but we are committed to our students, staff, and community, which includes all PPS families.

We want more answers from Portland Public Schools about what closures will do for students here at Irvington and throughout Portland.

We encourage you to get involved and help us advocate for an outcome that makes sense for all students. Together we SOAR!

Irvington families, we need your input! Please take the PTA survey and share your thoughts about potential school closures, as well as how we can move forward together as a community. Irvington is special to all of us! The survey link is in stories and our bio.

There are more upcoming ways to make your voices heard as well. Attend a PPS event and join us for a Sip & Spill with Superintendent Dr. Kimberlee Armstrong on Oct. 15.

Our first PTA meeting of the year is tonight (Monday, Sept. 14)! Dinner is at 5:30 and the meeting and childcare starts at 6pm.

This is a great chance to connect with other families, meet the folks coordinating programs around the school and share your hopes for the year. Whether it’s your first meeting or you’ve been to them all, your presence matters!

Free dinner and childcare are provided. New location! Enter the cafeteria through the doors off the blacktop.

(Special bonus: we’ll finish up the night with a popsicle party to celebrate all the volunteer hours that went into securing the new fence!)

There are some upcoming opportunities to learn more about PPS right-sizing and share your thoughts/concerns.

You also have a chance to attend a session at Irvington! Nichole Watson, the senior director of family and community engagement, will be at school on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 8:00-9:30am in the school library. This is an opportunity to ask questions about the process and share your feedback for the district’s consideration.

From PPS:

Board Directors are continuing to confirm their attendance, and we’ll share updates as they become available.

Whether you have been following rightsizing closely or are joining the conversation for the first time, you are welcome. We hope you’ll stop by, get connected and add your voice to the conversation.
