Molly's Adopt A Sailor~Special Hugs

Molly's Adopt A Sailor~Special Hugs Molly's Adopt A Sailor is a non-profit 501C3 charity. Special Hugs is a MAS project that supports o In his request he said "they need it more than we do".

We’re pleased to announce Molly's Adopt A Sailor "Special HUGS" project for our wounded soldiers who have been injured in the battlefield. A few months ago Molly's Adopt A Sailor was contacted by a soldier in Afghanistan and he asked MAS to adopt his unit, so that his unit could adopt the wounded heroes. Our contact explained that soldiers that come into the hospital only come with the clothes on

their backs....and most of the soldiers have them cut off, due to their injuries. This really tugged at our hearts and how could we say "no". Since, MAS is a one time adoption, we knew our wounded heroes needed more than a one time adoption. How could we help them...only once?! So, with much chatter and discussion, we came up with our "Special HUGS" project. Everyone needs a HUG, right? After talking with our contact (well emailing), we got a good idea of what our wounded heroes need. Most of the wounded heroes are only in the hospital for a short time. Some of our wounded heoroes are transfered to hospitals like Landstuhl Regional Medical Center or Walter Ried. Others are only there long enough to heal from their injuries to go back into the battlefield. Imagine being in a Combat Hospital far from home, with no family. You are literally recovering in a tent. The basic items you need to recover are not accessible to you, you rely on donations from complete strangers to help you with your recovery. It doesn't sound like a good situation to be in.....but our troops are more than willing to put themselves in harms way for you and me. We can't think of a better way to repay them by providing them with basic items that they need to recover...things we take for granted. We believe that the things we provide, like a pancake breakfast, cup o noodles, pillows and a “Movie Night” for the hospitals will not only give them the nourishment they need, but most importantly we think it will provide food for the soul. Our list of items they need is long, but our hope is that we can provide them with everything they need and that they don’t go without anything they need as they recover. Our wounded soldiers get so excited about the love and support from back home and look forward to the care packages that are sent to them to help them with their recovery. It truly touches them that complete strangers would go through so much trouble to help them and care about them. These brave men and women have put their country first. They need to know that America 100% supports them! It’s the very least we can do for someone who is willing to put their life on the line for you and me. Molly’s Adopt A Sailor Special Hugs relies on donations from individuals and businesses to help provide the basic needs and pick- me-ups for our wounded soldiers. Help us help our wounded soldiers by making a donation today to help send love and support to our wounded soldiers in Combat Hospitals. December 7, 1941. Remember all.

84 years ago, the brave Sailors stationed at Pearl Harbor risked it all to defend our country. Today, we remember the honor, courage and commitment these Sailors embodied.

Hello Friends, Veterans, and Troops,

It is with great regret and sadness that I inform you that the hard decision has been made to close Molly’s Adopt a Sailor (MAS) after 12 years of service to our active and veteran troops. Though this seems like a sad moment it is also a moment to reflect on all the good that has been done for over a decade.
With the Corona virus, issue at the post office, cost of shipping, lack of adoptions and lives evolving with age and moving now is the time.

Please as of today please do not donate to MAS, please stop your amazon smiles, Igives, Facebook donations, United Way or any other way you are donating. (I also know this could take a few days, nothing happens overnight) We will remain a 501c3 until 2021 because nothing happens overnight (LOL) We love you, and cannot thank you enough for always helping. This entire MAS would not have happened if not for you.

On Feb 16, 2006, the US Army said goodbye to its last Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, handing over equipment from the MASH unit to doctors and nurses in Pakistan, the scene of an October 2005 earthquake.
We miss supporting our MASH units.

In honor of Flag Day today.

My Name is Old Glory

I fly atop the world's tallest buildings.
I stand watch in America's halls of justice.
I fly majestically over great institutes of learning.
I stand guard with the greatest military power in the world.
Look up! And see me!

I stand for peace, honor, truth, and justice.
I stand for freedom.
I am confident . . . I am arrogant.
I am proud.

When I am flown with my fellow banners,
my head is a little higher,
my colors a little truer.

I bow to no one.
I am recognized all over the world.
I am worshipped.
I am saluted.
I am respected.
I am revered. I am loved.
And I am feared.

I have fought every battle of every war for more than 200 years...
Gettysburg, Shilo, Appomatox, San Juan Hill, the trenches of France,
the Argonne Forest, Anzio, Rome, the beaches of Normandy,
the deserts of Africa, the cane fields of the Philippines,
the rice paddies and jungles of Guam, Okinawa, Japan, Korea, Vietnam,
and a score of places long forgotten by all but those who were with me.

I was there!

I led my soldiers.
I followed them.
I watched over them...
They loved me.

I was on a small hill in Iwo Jima.
I was dirty, battle-worn and tired,
but my soldiers cheered me,
and I was proud.

I have been soiled, burned, torn and trampled on the streets of countries
I have helped set free.
It does not hurt . . . for I am invincible.
I have been soiled, burned, torn and trampled on the streets of my country,
and when it is by those with whom I have served in battle . . . it hurts.
But I shall overcome . . . for I am strong.

I have slipped the bonds of Earth
and stand watch over the uncharted new frontiers of space
from my vantage point on the moon.

I have been a silent witness to all of America's finest hours.
But my finest hour comes
when I am torn into strips to be used for bandages
for my wounded comrades on the field of battle.
when I fly at half mast to honor my soldiers...
and when I lie in the trembling arms
of a grieving mother at the graveside of her fallen son.

I am proud.
My name is Old Glory.
Dear God . . . Long may I wave!

Soldiers from the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) place U.S. flags at headstones as part of Flags-In at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, May 23, 2019. For more than 55 years, soldiers from the Old Guard have honored our nation’s fallen heroes by placing U.S. flags at gravesites for service members buried at both Arlington National Cemetery and the U.S. Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Home National Cemetery just prior to the Memorial Day weekend. Within four hours, over 1,000 soldiers place 245,000 flags in front of every headstone and Columbarium and niche wall column. (U.S. Army photo by Elizabeth Fraser / Arlington National Cemetery)
