☀️ Today’s historical image is inspired by the beautiful weather! Taken May of 1936, the photo features Crown Princess Delores Enebo of the Portland Winter Sports Carnival.

🏔️ Mount Hood is behind her, and she is poised as though about to ski downhill. This image was created as a publicity photo for the first Golden Rose Ski Race held June 14, 1936.

Today's art feature: Howard Sewall’s In the Garden from 1938.

This oil painting was added to Timberline Lodge in 1980, when it was donated by the Metropolitan Arts Commission of Portland.

An update from the US Forest Service is below.

What are your thoughts? As part of the three-legged stool, we advocate for Timberline Lodge with our state and national legislators. We would love to gather your opinions to share with our lawmakers.

No, the Forest Service isn’t being dismantled. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Our mission continues, our teams remain dedicated, and our motto endures: “Caring for the Land and Serving People.”

We understand and appreciate the support from those who care about these lands as much as we do.

Here are the facts:
• We are moving headquarters west to Salt Lake City to be closer to the 90% of the lands we manage.
• We are shifting staff capacity out from behind desks and into the forests and districts that are desperately understaffed.
• No lands are being transferred or sold to states.
• State directors will be career employees, not political appointees.
• Our research programs and activities continue.
• Our forest and district offices remain unchanged.
• Our fire program remains unchanged.

❄️ Ski the Glade 2026: Event Update

Well, we said today would be "No Snow, No Go" decision day, and unfortunately, the snow we hoped for last week just wasn't enough to make it happen.

Regrettably, there will be no Ski the Glade this year. 🎿🚫

We want to thank our partners at Timberline, Explore the Gorge, and the US Forest Service for their ongoing support.

In the meantime, save the date - we’re already looking forward to next year. Mark your calendars now for March 6, 2027!

Thank you for your continued support of the Mt. Hood Cultural Center & Museum. We'll see you on the mountain soon (hopefully with more white stuff)!
