Did you know that the Colorado Farm Bureau made a documentary about rural metal health? It's called LEGACY, and it discusses the stories of Farm Bureau members and their experiences with mental health, along with resources and the importance of addressing concerns. It's only 45 minutes long, and is an AFBF-awarded project. Give it a watch this month!

To watch LEGACY, click here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZZLitQ7_zA.

Last Thursday, YF&R Committee Vice Chair McCall Knecht, District 2 Representative Shauna Valko, and CFB's Director of Industry Relations Tim Miller all attended a Data Center Workshop at CSU's campus in Fort Collins, CO. There, they represented CFB as one of the many stakeholders to help CSU researchers gather perspectives on data centers in Colorado. The session was incredibly interactive, and these three played a huge role in making sure CFB's voice was heard! Thank you all for representing the industry so well!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week from the entire CFB Young Farmer & Rancher Committee! Each of our committee members have had their own teachers who have come before them, teaching them skills and giving them the confidence to become the leaders they are today. Have a teacher that you want to thank or give a special shoutout to? Tag them in the comments!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! We are so proud of and thankful for our many ag educators around the state, but especially for three wonderful ladies who are part of our YF&R Committee: Emily Baylie (District 3), Shauna Valko (District 2), and Megan Capps (District 1). You are making a difference every day in students' lives, and we couldn't be more grateful for your hard work representing agriculture on and off the committee.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the YF&R Committee wants you to know that you are not alone. Farming and ranching can be an incredibly difficult profession, especially when you are a young leader in your community, or are taking care of young kids while running an operation.

If you ever feel like you are struggling, reach out to any committee member. If you would prefer anonymous support, go to the caamhpforhealth.org. There, you will be able to sign up for 10 free vouchers for counseling sessions with folks who understand rural life and communities. Remember, you don't have to be in crisis to seek support - we all need help sometimes.

Keep an eye out the rest of the month as we continue to discuss mental health to end the stigma and promote amazing resources.

Hey hi hello! It's McCall (), your vice chair for the YF&R committee, reporting on planting season!

While I've been busy desk jockeying, my husband TJ has been hustling getting seeds going and water flowing.

Our ditch water shares have been really low recently because of the drought, which impacts how we plant. We're cutting back the number of acres we're planting and it's been a much slower process this year.

Instead of setting the normal ~24 rows of water, TJ has only been able to squeak in ~8.

It's critical that freshly planted seeds get water pretty immediately after they go in the soil, so we're only planting as much as we can water at a time.

Thankfully, we got a nice shower of good rain this week which is perfectly timed to help get the corn and peppers up.

As of today, all our peppers are planted, corn is mostly done and we'll start on beans in the next week or so.

Farming is an intricately intwined endeavor in effort and trust. We put in the long hours, mull over all the options, and still rely on uncontrollable factors. We wouldn't want it any other way.

Thanks & ❤️
