Kehilat Hamashiah

Kehilat Hamashiah We are a fellowship of Messianic Jews and Christians who are experiencing and expressing the Faith through the Scripture’s Hebraic Heritage.

Answers to the most commonly asked questions about our congregation:
1. Through the indwelling of the Ruach ha-Kodesh (Holy Spirit) we recognize there is one God, YHWH, and one Lord, Yeshua Messiah, and we are being called to express and experience the Faith through the Scripture’s Hebraic Heritage.
2. Our congregation is comprised mostly of non-Jewish followers of Yeshua. We are multi-cultural an

d multi-generational.
3. We are open to anyone wishing to come and worship with us. All we ask is that you come in a spirit of peace, dress modestly and not be disruptive.
4. We have a Shabbat School for children ages 2 and up.
5. Our services are a blend of traditional Hebrew liturgy, Messianic dance, and modern church worship. We begin at 10:30 am and conclude around 12:30 pm. A livestream of our liturgy and message begins about 11am.
6. We are conservative in our interpretation and application of the Scriptures.
7. We do not condemn Rabbinic Judaism or Traditional Christianity but seek their reconciliation in Yeshua.
8. We remember the Jewish Moadim (Holy Days) as found in Scripture, and other traditional Holidays which encourage us in understanding of the will of Adonai.
9. We encourage Messianic Christians to Love in Radical Obedience - By Grace, in Freedom, in Humility, in Unity, and according to their calling and measure of faith.
10. We are the tenants of Powelhurst Baptist Church, and not sponsored/supported by them.

Back to Basics: Abram's Amen, Pt 1
The active nature of "Trust toward Adonai" results necessarily in an inward posture of trust and an outward life of obedience. This message we will go on a side quest to examine the relationship between Righteousness (Hebrews 5:13) and Trust/Faith (Hebrews 6:1) by first seeing how Torah understands Righteousness (Tzedakah) and how 2nd Temple Judaism reimagined it.

In our Back to Basics series from Hebrews 5:11-6:2 we are seeking to understand how mature, Kingdom-focused living in Yeshua requires fully training our senses with the elementary principles—the "milk"—of Messiah. Last week, we completed our exploration of the first principle: Repentance from Dead Works. We learned that it is an active turning away from the futile attempt to justify ourselves, replacing dead actions with good works. Today, we move to the necessary partner of that repentance: Faith towards Adonai. Biblical faith is not merely an intellectual agreement to a set of theological facts. It is a firm, active, and steadfast attachment —fundamentally present in all human beings - which finds its only true and secure expression in the God of Israel and His Messiah.

As humans we are hardwired to be scared of death. It is a biological necessity. Adonai's Infinite Holiness is an existential threat to we finite beings. So we fear death, yet the Fear of Death is not the Fear of Adonai.
Adonai originally intended for us to be a "Kingdom of Priests," but because we are afraid of His presence, He set up the temporary Levitical system. This system lasted until Messiah overcame death, allowing us to safely return to Adonai's presence and fulfill our original purpose: to be a Holy People.

The 10th Statement of the Decalogue is a diagnostic tool. It reveals the Yetzer Hara (the Evil Inclination) not as some external temptation, but as that restless, "I want more" instinct that drives so much of what we do. But here’s the thing: you can’t just stop desiring things. Nature abhors a vacuum. So how do we fight against the War for More? The simple answer is: Gratitude. Gratitude is the spiritual fence that protects the heart from the chaos of covetousness; we do not abstain from desire by willpower alone, but by displacing the hunger for "more" with the theological recognition of "enough" (Dayenu).

In the sanctuary of God's presence, the honest lament of the grieving is met, not with simple explanations for suffering, but with the sustaining reality that God is with us.

Honoring our parents is the pivotal, non-negotiable command that bridges our duty to God with our duty to others. It grounds our community in a divine order that supersedes personal feelings and is our foundation for healthy homes and society. What if your parent was absent? Neglectful? Abusive? How can God command this? Look closely at the word. The command is Honor. It is not Love. This is because of the profound mercy of Adonai.
