Sunstone Way (formerly All Good Northwest) provides safe shelter and housing retention services throughout Portland and beyond. Our wrap-around services include peer support, behavioral health support, housing navigation, and ongoing case management. Our programs offer a path to hope and housing.

“I’ve gotten my confidence back.”

Before connecting with Sunstone Way, John was living outside under the Morrison Bridge, navigating repeated camp sweeps and uncertainty. A conversation with a community outreach worker marked the first step toward shelter, support, and stability.

From shelter to wraparound care, John’s path forward has been shaped by consistent, on-site support and partnerships that meet people where they are. Today, he’s working full time, earning his CDL, and preparing to move into housing, all while rebuilding confidence along the way. His experience reflects the role of coordinated outreach, shelter, and consistent support in helping people move from crisis toward stability.

Sharing stories like John’s is one way we aim to provide a clearer picture of the day-to-day work happening across our programs. We remain committed to serving our community with care, dignity, and responsibility, and we appreciate your support as that work continues.

With measles cases increasing in our community, staying up to date on vaccines and getting care when you need it is more important than ever.

Did you know that there are mobile clinic resources available across Multnomah County? They offer medical, dental, and lab services including adult vaccines, illness care, physical exams, reproductive health, pregnancy testing, limited prescriptions, and dental cleanings at select locations. Everyone is welcome, and you can pay what you’re able.

Meet Bella! 💙 Bella is the companion of one of our Weidler Village participants, and thanks to the incredible folks at Fern's Place, she was able to receive temporary fostering while her owner focused on receiving treatment. Too often, lack of pet care can be a barrier to accessing medical or addiction services. Fern's Place stepped in quickly to make sure Bella was safe and loved, removing that barrier and allowing our participant to focus on healing.

Shoutout to Fern’s Place and our Weidler Village team for making moments like this possible! 🐾✨

As part of our focus this month on housing and economic justice, we’re highlighting local organizations like Equitable Giving Circle, founded by Black women and femmes with the belief that true equity comes from intersectional leadership that centers Black women.

Equitable Giving Circle supports the Portland Black community by working to eliminate food insecurity, advance equitable housing and education, and expand access to wellness and care, including a free market pop-up for Black and Brown community members held every Thursday.

We want to give a huge thanks to Portland's Folk Festival 🎶💛

2026 marked our third year partnering, and we’re so grateful to once again be a beneficiary of this festival. This year, PFF's support also included a canned food drive for our shelter programs, making a real and immediate impact for the people we serve.

We appreciate Scott for taking the time to drop off donations in person and the rest of the Portland’s Folk Festival team and community for their continued generosity. Partnerships like this show how much stronger we are when we come together - we can't wait for next year!

Last week, we received a letter of thanks from a local community medical partner, asking that we share their profound gratitude for the Market Street Shelter team and the compassionate care provided to their patient. As we reflect on the legacy of this program, we’re deeply proud of the compassion and commitment shown by our staff every day.

The Centennial Neighborhood Overnight Shelter is now open!

Operated by Sunstone Way in partnership with Eastside Imago Dei Community and the City of Portland, OR, the shelter provides emergency overnight shelter for adults at 3130 SE 148th Ave with up to 96 beds available nightly.

The shelter operates 9:00pm – 7:00am, with check-in first come, first served from 8:30pm – 9:30pm (please don’t line up more than 30 minutes early). Space is limited, bring only items you can carry. One leashed pet per guest is allowed, and no weapons are permitted.

Houselessness cannot be separated from race. Black communities are disproportionately impacted due to long-standing systems rooted in segregation, discrimination, and criminalization.

This Black History Month, we’re highlighting community-led organizations working toward housing and economic justice. During the month, we’ll be highlighting each organization individually and sharing more about their work and impact.

Community-led solutions are essential to ending houselessness. Please follow and support these organizations shaping a more just housing future in Portland.

As Market Street Shelter enters its final 60 days, members of our team are taking time to reflect on what this space has meant, both to the community and to themselves.

We are sincerely thankful to every staff member, partner organization, community supporter, and participant who has been part of this program over the past four years.

Our dedicated team will continue providing wrap-around care at Market Street Shelter through March 31st. To help support this transition, we will stop accepting new intakes in mid-February.

Food and winter clothing donations are still needed during this time and are greatly appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at the Sunstone Way offices at 54 SW Yamhill St., Portland, OR 97204 or you can visit our website to learn more about our work and additional ways to support.

On January 13th our COO, Alicia Hovanas, joined the Multnomah County Commission for the Adult Shelter Work Session to speak on what local shelter providers are seeing every day.

The data and the lived reality align, when people are housing ready, shelter staff are highly effective at helping them secure documentation, benefits, income, and successful exits to housing. But a large portion of the people shelters are serving today are just not housing ready.

There is a growing mismatch between what the shelter system was designed to do and the level of mental health, medical, and long-term support many people now need. Shelters should be short-term stabilization - not the default response for people with higher levels of support needs.

If we want better outcomes, we must build a continuum of care that truly meets people where they are.
