Ready for a fruitful Growing Season?

The City inspected plots April 15th. Same as last year, their visit happened before most people remove cover crops, bags, or plant. Rains flooded the back corner for days and there was hail and frost April 16-17th.

Farmers Almanac says it has never snowed or frosted in Portland, after April 20th!

The City plans to reinspect in 3weeks, so turn your soil and w**d before May 15th! Also, please dump a load of chips on path surrounding to your plot, if chips are thin.

Our Produce for People haul for September 2 2025. All food is delivered to the Mainspring food pantry. Have food you can't harvest? put your plot on the list in the kiosk where you can list what you would like our team to harvest and it will be done Tuesday morning. Another options is that you can harvest yourself and put it into one of the coolers behind the shed.

One of my failings as a gardener, and yes it is a long list but I’ll try to trouble you with only the top five or so over the course of the season, is I never thin enough. I figure if a seed has sprouted it deserves a chance to make it. But once I’d pulled one of these cute little guys I had to gather enough for salad.
These are Japanese Turnips from an open package of seeds I found in the shed. They were labeled for 2020 and are doing quite nicely. Thanks to whoever shared them.
Michael, the wandering gardener.

Thanks Michael (plot 38G)!
