Hello SOOR Multnomah County community! We are gearing up for an exciting summer season, but we need your help to make it happen!

Unfortunately, our bocce and softball programs are critically short on coaches. Without additional volunteers stepping up, we will be forced to turn athletes away, and we really want to avoid that.

Coaching is an incredibly rewarding way to give back to the community. No prior experience is necessary, just enthusiasm, a love of the sport, and a desire to make a difference in an athlete's life.

If you know someone who might be interested, please forward the registration link to them.

All volunteers must be registered with Special Olympics Oregon and be approved by the State Office. The background check can take some time, so please get your applications in as early as possible.

Bocce
-Location: University of Portland, Prusynski Pitch (Pru Pitch)
5000 N Willamette Blvd., Portland, OR 97203
-Practice Dates/Times: Sundays, 10:00 - 11:30 AM
-First Practice: Sunday, 4/26. Last Practice: Sunday, 6/28
*Additional Note:
-No practice Sunday, 5/24
-Practice on 5/3 & 5/17 will be at Jefferson High School (same practice time)
-Regional Competition: Saturday, 6/6, Mt. View Champions Park, Beaverton
-Summer State Games: 7/10 - 7/12 (OSU/Corvallis)

Softball
-Location: Sacramento Elementary School

-Practice Dates/Times: Sundays, 10:00-11:30 AM
-First Practice: Sunday, 5/3. Last Practice: TBD

🥳 Multnomah County came out and showed out this summer season! An entire season of practice and hard work ending in the first Summer State Games in 7 years.

134 athletes competed in 4 sports this summer season. 85 of them advanced to State Games in Corvallis.

55+ coaches, unified partners and ASL interpreters were along to support the ride all season.

Congratulations to all our athletes, coaches, partners, volunteers, supporters and fans on a fantastic summer season! Let's do it again! 🙌
