Volunteer Opportunity!

ANA Prepares to Launch New Neighbor Visits

The Alameda Neighborhood Association is preparing to launch a program to welcome new residents to the neighborhood. The ANA Community Life Committee is designing a welcome packet to be personally delivered by volunteers to each new family moving into the neighborhood beginning in the fall. The packets will contain information about Alameda, the Neighborhood Association and local businesses. This summer committee members will be approaching local businesses for support in offering introductory coupons to include in the packets.

If you would like to help welcome new neighbors, please contact us at [email protected]. Neighbors are what make Alameda a wonderful place to live!

A Reminder About Coexisting with Coyotes

Coyotes have lived in Alameda for years, and while we’re used to them, it’s important to remind them that humans should be feared and avoided. Here are some measures you can take so we can continue to coexist peacefully:

• Don't feed coyotes

Be mindful of inadvertent feeding through sources like compost piles, fallen fruit, and outdoor pet food. Keep pets indoors.

• Haze coyotes (scare them away) whenever you see them

Use a loud voice, wave your arms, and employ methods like rattling a can of rocks, clapping, or using an airhorn.

For more info on living with our neighborhood coyotes visit the Portland Urban Coyote Project at portlandcoyote.com
