🌎 Happy Earth Day - turn your empties into hay and happy brays!

This Earth Day, your bottles and cans (purchased in Oregon) can do more than recycle - they can directly support the donkeys at the Oregon Donkey Sanctuary.

Through BottleDrop, your returned containers help fund the hay our donkeys eat all year long - yes, that’s the level of impact your recycling can have. 🌱

Want to help?
Email [email protected] to receive blue BottleDrop bags with our QR code labels already attached, and we’ll coordinate getting them to you.

Every can and bottle helps rescue, rehabilitate, and care for donkeys in need - while doing something good for the planet, too. đź’š

🌍 Earth Day is a meaningful reminder that caring for our planet goes hand in hand with caring for all who inhabit it.

At Worsley Institute, this commitment extends beyond environmental stewardship to include compassion for animals—whether they are beloved pets at home or farm animals that support our local and global systems.

Protecting the Earth begins with small, thoughtful actions: reducing waste, conserving energy, and making mindful choices about the products we use and the foods we consume. These efforts help preserve natural resources and safeguard the habitats animals rely on to thrive.

Equally important is how we treat animals in our daily lives. Kindness to pets means providing proper care, attention, and enrichment. For farm animals, it means supporting humane practices that prioritize their well-being.

This Earth Day, we encourage a holistic approach to care—one that recognizes the connection between environmental health and animal welfare. By acting with intention and empathy, we can help create a future where both the planet and its animals flourish. 🌱

🌍 Earth is passing through the debris field of Asteroid 3200 Phaethon, igniting the Geminid meteor shower.

🔥 Visible worldwide starting mid-evening, the Geminids are known for their reliable, bright, and multi-colored meteors that can produce over 100 shooting stars per hour.

✨ The best time to watch is from mid-evening until dawn, as the constellation Gemini rises early in the east and the meteor rates climb steadily throughout the night. You don’t need any equipment—just your eyes, a dark spot away from city lights, and about 20 minutes for them to adjust.
