At Joyful Transitions PDX, this Juneteenth we stand with black people in both mourning and celebration for those who died seeking freedom, who died while enslaved, and those who lived long enough to be freed, they all have their own powerful legacy. White people have tried to tarnish these legacies for their pride and their embarrassment for the actions of their ancestors. But these generations of black families and love and resilience and strength will not be pushed aside.

We acknowledge that many are still not free. As our prison industrial complex in conjunction with police, jail black people at an exorbitant rate compared to any other race. Those prisoners are then forced to work for pennies, sometimes nothing. This is prison slavery.

This is racism in action. Racism in the present. And we must work within our local communities and national stage to abolish and rebuild our justice and rehabilitation system so that everyone is treated equally and humanely.

Many Black people in the United States recognize June 19 as their Independence Day.

Joyful Transitions PDX is hiring working Board Members!

Joyful Transitions is a trans, nonbinary, and disabled-run nonprofit founded in May 2021. We provide free gender transition materials for low-income and houseless trans and nonbinary individuals of all ages in Oregon. In one year, we helped over 200 folks in the PNW access free gender transition materials!
We were on a hiatus while figuring out our board bylaws and continued funding, but I am ready to relaunch soon and need help doing it!

We have a few choice positions for types of board members, though I’d like to get at least:
1 Treasury Officer
1 Social Media Officer
1 Volunteer Outreach Officer
Ideally, we would also have an admin services officer. If I have a large pool of those interested, I can open that position. All of our positions are remote. Board members are required to work on JTPDX for a minimum of 10 hours per month.

As a Board member, you would also have the option to provide and manage fee services through the JTPDX name, such as counseling, consulting, and classes or workshops. As long as it relates to our mission.

Joyful Transitions PDX has been on a hiatus, however, we are still a one person operation. While we have made bylaws, those working are still Myself and then my partner helps when he can.

We are also continuing to analyze all of the new types of materials that are out there, so when we do have enough funding, we can provide folks with binders and packers and gaffs that are sensory friendly or fit and bind better.

Our mission is still in the works of restarting, but we appreciate all donations as they are still tax deductible for you, and will help me relaunch JTPDX with enough money to buy quality materials for those in need.

Hello Friends!
We wanted to wish our community a belated Trans day of visibility and say that we are still here!
We are working diligently behind the scenes to prepare our organization to relaunch our materials by Pride month!
We have also finally established some board bylaws and signed them, so our board is now official!

Welcome Eclipse and C**t as our Admin/Communications Members!
We do have 3 spots on our board that we wish to fill, so look out for those posts soon.
Those bylaws, and our budget will also be on our website to read once we relaunch!

Hi folks! Again, there will not be new resource forms for a few months while we regroup and solidify our board, and try to find more funding partners.
We hope to be consistently helping the community again by June, Pride month, but we shall see!
