When our neighbors call 911, they deserve a fire engine that's staffed and ready to respond.

Portland firefighters have already fought to keep one engine in service this year. That's why PFFA opposes Measure 26-267. Our priority is keeping Portland's neighborhoods safe.

“Earlier this year, we nearly lost the fire engine at Station 22. We fought to save it, and the City had to use reserves to keep it operating. That's how serious Portland's budget crisis already is. Measure 26-267 would make it worse by permanently diverting millions of dollars every year from the fund that pays for fire, police, 911 dispatch, and Portland Street Response. We simply can't afford it.”

Portland Firefighters are working to restore one of the hallowed grounds for Portland Firefighters. The David Campbell Memorial, located at 1864 SW Alder Street, is a 98 year old city heritage site that honors the legacy of Fallen Fire Chief David Campbell. It also is the home for the remembrance of all 79 Portland Firefighters who have given their lives in service to the citizens of Portland.

For the past 6 years, we have been working to restore our Portland Firefighter Memorial, a true city jewel. The financial status of the city has left us short on the funds we need to complete the project.

We are reaching out to the citizens of Portland (and the metro area) for help. We are asking for a donation of $1.00 per citizen of Portland. This could raise up to $680,000, securing the funds needed to complete our Portland Firefighter Memorial.

This project is spearheaded by the non-profit partner to Portland Fire, The David Campbell Memorial Association (www.DavidCampbellMemorial.org). We are utilizing GoFundMe to capture the generosity of Portlanders and those who support Portland's fallen firefighters.

This week, members of Local 43 traveled across the country to stand side by side with our brothers and sisters in the fire service at Ground Zero, honoring the 343 firefighters that answered their final call 25 years ago today.

They ran toward danger. They put others before themselves. They gave everything.
25 years later, we remember their courage and honor their sacrifice.
