Oregon Handlers Fund

Oregon Handlers Fund Oregon Handlers Fund has a singular purpose: to pay the OLCC Ma*****na Workers permit fee for Black and Non-Black People of Color. EIN: 85-1863194

Oregon Handlers Fund is a non-profit corporation. We are working towards 501(c)(3) status. While the application fee is $100, we happily extend gratitude for any amount donated. To be financially transparent on our end, at this point we're all working on a volunteer basis. Our focus at the moment is to get as many people of color job ready into the cannabis industry using their transferable skills. Thus keeping them employable above entry level.

Oregon Handlers Fund was created from a passion to serve and break barriers. I was blessed to have people that believed in the same. In 2021, we received what we thought was the funding opportunity of a lifetime with the SEED grant through the City of Portland. It indeed was a nightmare, from the start. Miscommunication, staff members leaving, system changes, invoices being paid months behind (like waaaay behind), no guidance etc. The extensive and consistent delays on their part (because none of this was our fault and that's the truth) forced us to come to a horrible decision. As of February 1, 2023 Oregon Handlers Fund is dissolving as a Non-profit organization. I don't have the mental, emotional or physical capacity to run the gauntlet of gaslighting that is the City of Portland and the s**t show we've had front row tickets too. So no it wasn't a misappropriation of funds etc as we had no funds to misappropriate.

Thank you so much to Casey, Christopher, Justin (rest in Love), Alaiyo, and Mason for all of their hard and tireless work. Thank you to the Cannabis Community that has donated and supported our efforts in any form or fashion. Thank you to the BIPOC community for your support, thank you to our 71 permitted applicants for believing we would do what we said. My deepest apologies to those we weren't able to serve. To those of you that support us as we grieve this loss, immense gratitude. To those of you that are celebrating this loss, it's my hope that when your giggles and back talk have ended; you pick up the torch and do this work. Because this work is highly needed. We're proof that it's needed. Do it. Do it better than me so that it just gets done. I'll be going back to educating Budtenders to treat patients and get back into my Doula work. In addition to focusing on my now failing health.
Peace and Gratitude, OHF

Portland's Leafly mural was painted by Maggie Wang (.dre) and the Portland Street Art Alliance (). The mural is now an NFT up for auction benefiting the Oregon Handlers Fund (). Together, we celebrate pedaling the PDX streets and smoking beautiful w**d.

ā€œIt was important for me to do this mural with Leafly because I believe that anyone, and especially Black and brown communities, should be able to enjoy w**d without stigma. It’s about joy, and the mural captures what I love most about my hometown: that anyone can do what makes them happy, no matter what other people think," said Maggie. The dopest of news is that ours is already sold out!! Still, go check out the mural! Have a happy and safe 420 from all of us to all of you! #420

Hey! You all remember the NFT Mural Leafly did and was going to donate all the proceeds to OHF for? It already SOLD OUT!

Magdaline ā€œMaggieā€ Wang—also known as Magdre—began her artistic career in Portland, Oregon. She creates art in a range of mediums including murals, tattoos, drawings, prints, resin molds, and more. Her style draws on elements of pop culture from the 90’s and early 2000’s, creating a world of nostalgia for her viewers. The Portland Street Art Alliance (PSAA) champions and advocates for street art and street artists. Since 2012, it has managed more than 120 commissioned and publicly-funded projects.

Maggie’s vibrant mural depicts some of Portland residents’ favorite pastimes – riding bikes, savoring the mild weather, and smoking cannabis.

ā€œPartnering with Leafly was a no-brainer for me. I love to smoke, and w**d is a core part of my artistic process,ā€ Maggie remarked.

ā€œI believe that anyone—and especially Black and brown communities—should be able to enjoy w**d without stigma. The mural captures what I love most about my hometown: That anyone can do what makes them happy, no matter what other people think.ā€
