The Portland Younger Member Forum (YMF) is a sub-group of the ASCE Oregon Section

The Younger Member Forum (YMF) is a sub-group of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) that is open to members 35 years of age or younger. Our mission is to facilitate the transition of engineering students to young professionals by providing younger members with opportunities for professional and leadership development, networking, and community service. Oregon YMF hosts a variety of eve

nts including technical tours and presentations, community service projects, student and Section outreach events, and social activities. Active participation in YMF is a great way for young engineers to become involved in their local engineering and public communities, and develop professionally. Information about upcoming events and activities is posted on the website and included in the weekly YMF email. The board is always looking for motivated engineers who would like to be more involved. The Report Card Team was represented well at the Oregon Infrastructure Summit today, with our own Ana Tijerina Esquino as a Keynote Speaker for the event. Thank you to everyone who engaged with us at our table and thank you to Business Oregon and Northwest Environmental Council for having us!

This is just one of the many stops the team is making to advocate about the state of our infrastructure. Stay tuned for more info and don't forget to read the report card!

Join us for the release of Oregon's 2024 Infrastructure Report Card on August 6th at the Oregon State Capitol! A tour of the State Capitol seismic retrofit project precedes the event, going from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. This tour starts at the Hoffman Construction office located next to the Capitol building and near the intersection of State St and Winter St SE. Please wear boots (steel toe not required) and long pants for this tour. Hard hats will be provided, or you may bring your own hard hat if it includes a chin strap.

2 DAYS AWAY!!

ASCE Portland YMF Career Kickoff event at Colwood Golf Center is this Saturday. This event is focused on “kicking off” the careers of recent civil engineering grads and young professionals by connecting them with civil engineering professionals in the Pacific Northwest. The event will begin with a footgolf tournament at 3pm, followed by a delicious taco bar buffet at 5pm, and an electric speaker series at 5:40pm. We’ll have the wonderful Jamestaun Kraupp, Senior Engineer at Kittleson and next year’s ASCE Region 8 Governor, as our keynote speaker. We will be hosting a panel of civil engineers to share advice with our students and new professionals. Sponsoring companies will have several opportunities to advertise and recruit throughout the event. Footgolf trophies and raffle winners will be awarded at the end!
