- BBAO grants and programs are now open! We have emergency, inventory, and tech grants available, tax prep and business credit programs, and direct technical assistance.

General eligibility requirements:
Must be a for-profit business with at least 51% Black ownership.
Must have active registration with the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office.
Must currently operate in Portland, OR (>2 years).
Must submit the last two years of business tax returns, including Schedule C

-Please note-
Applications will be accepted from October 1st to October 31st. You may apply for a grant or register for a program workshop, but please note that applicants can only apply for one grant OR one program. ALL applicants can apply for Direct Technical Assistance and meet with a Subject Matter Expert. Grant recipients and program participants will be notified by November 15th.

Business Supplier Diversity Survey – Deadline is November 5

The Washington County Supplier Diversity Assessment Survey is now open! Businesses located and operating within Washington County's city and unincorporated areas are asked to share their recent experiences owning and operating businesses within Washington County.

Answers to these questions contribute to data that directly informs the work Washington County is conducting. The county is working to better understand the landscape of businesses across the county and how the county can create pathways for diverse businesses to work with the county as a supplier of professional goods and services.

Upon the completion of this survey, participants will be entered into a drawing for gift cards for local Washington County businesses. Take the 5-10-minute survey now – survey responses are due by Tuesday, November 5.

The inaugural Black Wealth Summit is less than ONE WEEK away!

The Summit is Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 9 am-5 pm at The Evergreen PDX (618 SE ALDER ST PORTLAND, OR 97214). The welcome and opening remarks keynote speaker is Beatrice Dixon, with special guest Olympic Medalist Allyson Felix and co-founder Wes Felix of Saysh.

The Summit will showcase a variety of wealth-building strategies that Black and BIPOC families, founders, and their advocates can utilize to build wealth in this generation and strategies to preserve and create generational wealth planning. We encourage all to come and connect!

From October 1 through October 31, majority Black-owned, for-profit businesses in Portland can apply for our open grant and program cycle! Grant recipients and program participants will be notified by November 15th.

On our website, you can access the previously recorded information session (frequently asked questions included) and apply for a grant specific to technology, inventory, emergency, direct technical assistance, or the business credit and tax preparation programs.
