Please help us congratulate Rayana on being awarded a *second* Alan Fibish scholarship on Thursday, May 29. The Blue Heron Foundation awarded Rayna with a $2,500 scholarship for her to continue her journey to become a nurse. Our Blue Heron Foundation offers scholarship opportunities for Willamette View employees through the Alan Fibish Scholarship and the Marion Lindeman Scholarship.

40 kids signed up for an Easter egg hunt at Willamette View, including resident’s grandkids, and kids and grandkids of staff. Volunteers helped the Easter Bunny spread 1000 eggs on the lawn behind the manor. It took 14 minutes for them all to be collected!

Last week, we gave $4,822.05 to the Start Right program and $4,897.50 to Backpack Buddies thanks to the generosity of our residents! Thank you! Backpack Buddies provides nutritious meals over the weekend to students in the North Clackamas School District who might otherwise go hungry. Support from our community benefits Oak Grove Elementary School and is administered by the North Clackamas Education Foundation.
Program Start Right provides school supplies and back packs for children of low-income families and children in foster care in grades K-1 throughout Clackamas County.

Hosting Car Washes by local high school groups is one of the ways Willamette View supports our local schools! This last Saturday, the Rex Putnam Kingsmen Royal Crowns were here! We are proud to help out such a great group of young people.

The Blue Heron Foundation hosted a special Memorial Bench Dedication Ceremony in our community gardens yesterday. There were over 130 people in attendance to celebrate the accomplishments of Zeno Katterle, who was a well-loved member of the community, along with having a long career in leadership roles as an educator and superintendent. Zeno loved working in the resident gardens at Willamette View.
