A healthier Slough is the result of hard work by volunteers, partners, and our three programs: restoration, education, and community events.

🌳A healthy watershed is possible thanks to the steady flow of funds from monthly donations, flowing directly into our programs.

CSWC doesn’t just protect nature, we bring people to it! 🛶

Our three programs increase access to nature in the city. Did you know that CSWC helped over 600 people canoe the Slough last year? Or that our events program has already engaged over 200 people this year in events like bird walks, bike rides, trash cleanups, and Slough Science? These are critical opportunities to connect people with nature right here in Portland.

We are 30% of the way to our goal of adding 25 new monthly donors by June 15th. Can you help support our programs with a small monthly gift?

Support CSWC and you could win a custom Propain Terrel CF Gravel Bike! Our goal is to add 25 new monthly donors by June 15th, and by becoming a monthly donor at the $20 level, you get TWO entries to win a custom gravel bike. Can’t commit to monthly donations? For every $15 donated, you receive one entry to win the bike. Donate $150 and that’s 10 entries to win!

🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚴In addition to supporting CSWC, the bike is customizable to fit you and your color preferences! The size, frame color, decal color, and head badge color. The value of the bike is set at $3,500, allowing for minimal component customization.

Now imagine: you’re riding your awesome new bike at one of our Bike and Bird events, testing out your new wheels on the Columbia Slough Trail, or simply enjoying a ride with your friends and family. The potential is endless on where this lightweight carbon fiber bike can take you.

This could be you! Giving a one time or monthly donation will support CSWC’s free programs and our work to sustain the green spaces and nature in the city.

Do you love sustaining your local watershed and winning prizes while you do it? We do too. 🌱🌳🌿 But don’t take it from us, take it from a current monthly donor:

✨“I choose giving to the Slough because this team is not only restoring our neighborhood and with dedication taking care of the habitats around us, but also making sure that future generations share the same commitment to our environment, take care of the natural resources, and give back to the community we live in.”✨

Giving a small monthly gift to CSWC helps protect vital nature in the city. Through June 15, we also have thank-you prizes for donors! 👀 Click the link in our bio to join now!

Bird guides Ryan Gilpin and Thomas Meinzen joined CSWC to host our annual Bike and Bird, cycling the Vanport loop. We kicked off the ride starting at the Historic Vanport Marker, stopped for birding at Force Lake, to then continue on to Smith and Bybee Wetlands. While at Smith and Bybee we spotted an osprey diving at a bald eagle, as well as two teenage barred owls! Although the teenage owns and raptor birds stole the show, we appreciated seeing 50+ other species of birds! Another awesome bike and bird for the books 🦅🦉

On Saturday, April 11th, CSWC’s Stewardship Program completed its last Stewardship Saturday of the season in partnership with and 15 volunteers! In total, staff and volunteers spread approximately 15 yards of mulch around several different species of plants and trees. We also maintained and added dozens of new plant tubes. These tubes will act as a barrier against animals looking for a good meal, and they will help add another source of water via morning condensation during the times they will need it the most. We are very grateful to the volunteers that took time to tend to the plants. These plants will now have a fighting chance because of their help!
