Canstruction Portland, Oregon Canstruction Portland is entering its 22nd year in the fight against hunger. This monumental amount of food has helped make a dent.

Canstruction is a unique international competition wherein teams of architects, engineers and contractors compete to build giant structures made entirely out of full cans of food. To-date 95 A/E/C firms have teamed to build over 150 sculptures providing 1 million meals for Oregon Food Bank. Each month 270,000 people receive food assistance from a pantry through Oregon Food Bank Network, and an ast

onishing 92,000 of those are children. That’s enough to fill the Moda Center 15 times! This plight is easily ignored. Hunger in the United States isn’t as visible as homelessness. Hunger is a hidden travesty that doesn’t need to happen. A $10 donation to Oregon Food Bank provides 30 meals for individuals struggling with hunger. The teams’ structures are displayed to the public for a week at Pioneer Place in Downtown Portland.
