A committed group of thoughtful nerds out to change the world
A group of Aviation & Space "nerds" (our description) got together because of our love of aerospace and a desire to share what we know with the next generation of innovators. We began with the concept of building a place where students will have access to the opportunities associated with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) education and careers.
Then we realized that students need the opportunity to discover all the ways STEM happens in their lives every day, and how many skills they can develop by trying out new activities. Instead of focusing just on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math we will focus on interesting projects that help develop skills like Critical Thinking, Innovation, and Emotional Intelligence. Skills that are important to their future employers and helpful in all areas of their life. And we'll do it by having fun--gaming, robotics, creating a community on Mars, and whatever you want to learn more about!
This "place" became known as The MC (Matt's Club). Physically located in Oregon, the program will be "virtually" available to students without the ability to join in person. All the activities are based on the wealth of material created by NASA which is free and in the public domain. In other words, we have a place for kids to gather and participate in cool activities and will provide live streaming of the club & the information needed for other locations to engage with us. The dream is to provide an easy program that will be available everywhere, based on free material & activities are guided remotely.
