We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Nancy Bestor to our Executive Director position!
Nancy has been a core leadership staff member at Hopewell House since 2022, initially as Finance Manager, then Director of Administrative Operations before her appointment as Interim Executive Director. During her time as Interim, Nancy renegotiated Hopewell House’s Specific Needs Contract rate with Medicaid, wrote several grants, supervised the launch of a new website and publicity video, and adapted operating procedures to fit current organizational needs.
Prior to joining the Hopewell House team, for 28 years Nancy ran an independent retail business in Ashland, Oregon with her husband Bob. During that time, Nancy managed the finances, supervised staff, and handled the business operations of the store. She served on multiple committees with the Ashland Chamber of Commerce, and also served on the board of the Ashland YMCA and Ashland Schools Foundation. Before moving to Portland, Nancy founded and ran a book club for incarcerated young men at the Oregon Youth Authority in Grants Pass. Nancy enjoys pickleball, cooking (and eating even more so!), traveling with her husband, and walking the beautiful neighborhoods of Portland with friends. She has two adult children, Emily and Sarah, who reside in Portland.
Nancy shared, “I am privileged to work with a tremendous team - made up of staff and volunteers alike - who show up compassionately every day to provide care, food, comfort and security to our residents, no matter what the circumstances are that brought them to us. And I am so grateful for the work of those who have preceded me in this role, including founding director Lesley Sacks, and before we reopened our doors, Scott MacEachern and Susan Hearn. I am honored to lead the Hopewell House community as we continue to further our mission.”
Welcome to this role Nancy! The Hopewell community is so grateful for your leadership.
