πŸ₯‹πŸŒŽ Exchange is about so much more than attending school.

While in the United States, students don't just learn in the classroom. They join teams, discover new passions, challenge themselves, and become part of their local communities.

Niklas from Germany spent his exchange year training in Taekwondo, building friendships, developing confidence, and working toward new belt levels alongside his instructors and fellow students. Experiences like these help students grow in ways that last far beyond their time in the U.S.

From sports and music to clubs, volunteering, and community activities, exchange students embrace opportunities that help shape who they become.

That's the power of cultural exchange. It's not just about seeing a new country. It's about living it.

🎨 A Simple Thank You That Says So Much ❀️

As their exchange year comes to a close, many students look for meaningful ways to thank the families who opened their homes and hearts to them.

Jasper from Germany and his fellow exchange students created special paintings for their host families, blending the flags of their home countries with the United States as a symbol of friendship, connection, and the bonds formed during their year abroad.

These gifts are more than artwork. They represent countless shared meals, family traditions, school events, road trips, conversations, laughter, and memories that will stay with them for a lifetime.

One of the most common things we hear from students at the end of their program is simple:

"Thank you for choosing me."

The impact of hosting extends far beyond a school year. It creates relationships that cross oceans, cultures, and generations.

Thank you to every host family who helps make these life-changing experiences possible. πŸŒŽπŸ’™

πŸŒ΅πŸ’™ Sometimes the most meaningful journeys aren't the easiest ones.

When Jinyu "Henry" H. arrived from South Korea, his exchange experience didn't unfold exactly as planned. He faced challenges at school and needed to move to a new host family, but he did not give up. Instead, Henry chose to persevere.

From bonding with his host brother and building lasting friendships to exploring some of Arizona's most iconic destinations, including the Grand Canyon and Bearizona, Henry has embraced every opportunity his exchange year has offered. Whether he's out on an adventure or simply enjoying everyday life with friends and family, he has made the most of his time in the United States.

His host family and Local Coordinator describe him as a resilient, kind soul whose positive attitude and determination have helped turn obstacles into opportunities.

Henry's story is a reminder that growth often happens outside our comfort zones and that sometimes the most rewarding experiences come after overcoming challenges.

It is stories like these that make our hearts swell. 🌎✨

🏈 One football game. Two exchange students. One incredible host family. πŸ’™

Antonia from Germany and Giulia from Italy may have grown up countries apart, but thanks to their amazing host family, they are now host sisters sharing the American high school experience together.

As a double placement, these two girls are experiencing everything from Friday night lights and school spirit to everyday family life, creating friendships and memories that will last long after their exchange year ends.

Host families who welcome two students often discover something special: not only do the students learn from America, but they also learn from each other as well. Different cultures, different perspectives, and one shared adventure.

The result? Lifelong friendships, unforgettable experiences, and a home filled with even more laughter, learning, and connection. 🌎✨

Some connections are simply meant to come full circle. πŸŒŽπŸ’™

Two years ago, Carmen’s brother came to Eugene, Oregon as an exchange student. Today, Carmen is creating memories of her own in the very same community β€” experiencing new adventures, friendships, and traditions while sharing her culture from Spain.

Exchange isn’t just about one student or one year. It creates lifelong connections between families, communities, and cultures that continue for generations.

Hosting an exchange student opens the door to unforgettable experiences, meaningful relationships, and a chance to see the world from a new perspective β€” all from your own home.
