Thank you so much to Centennial High School for having us today! We love sharing what we do with local students as well as educating our local communities about this sector of the maritime industry and how they can get involved. We are looking forward to more visits, presentations, and community events up and down our river! Thanks again Eagles!

Here’s a recent photo that is very special for a couple of reasons:

1. It was captured by our own Megan Emerson.
2. Our own Sasha LaGreide is operating that tug.
3. Sasha’s first ride-along was on that ship with Rebecca Henderson as the pilot: “2 years ago almost to the date I met Rebecca Henderson, and took my first ship ride with her. What a special job today to be on the other side of the same move.” - Capt Sasha LaGreide

We love full circles around here - especially when our sisters on the river are the ones creating them.

For this International Women in Maritime Day we wanted to highlight just a few of the women who have inspired us to keep following our dreams, held us up when we were down, and rejoiced in our triumphs as we moved through the industry. These are women of extreme grace and strength and we are thankful for you!

💙⚓️ : Happy International Women in Maritime Day to Christine — a SEAPA pilot who is always willing to help, give honest advice, and dig into the regulations when someone needs answers. ⚓️💜

From incredible bystander intervention trainings to mentoring others in the industry, Christine is smart, generous, direct, and deeply respected by the people around her. We’re so grateful for everything she does to help make our industry safer and stronger for everyone. 💙💙💙

💙⚓️Rebecca Henderson: From Sasha - Rebecca took me on one of my very first COLRIP ride-alongs and has continued to be someone I can call when I need advice, perspective, or just encouragement to keep pushing forward in this industry. That kind of mentorship matters more than most people realize.

Thank you for everything you’ve done for women in maritime, for the Columbia River, and for the next generation coming up behind you. Your impact reaches farther than you probably know.

Fair winds in retirement, Rebecca. ⚓️

💙⚓️ : From Hannah - I would not be here today without you, Elizabeth. You have created a community that is instrumental to that which binds us women together. I’ve met some of my best friends because of you and simultaneously you have become one of my best friends. I love you so much. Thank you for demonstrating what is possible. You’re the strongest woman I know.

HELP US LET THE USCG KNOW WE NEED ANOTHER EXTENSION!

05/17/2026

HELP US LET THE USCG KNOW THAT ANOTHER EXTENSION NEEDS TO BE ROLLED OUT!!! Here’s what you can do:

1. Drop us a line on any of our platforms and we will send you the template letter we have created.
2. Hop online and find out who your local congress person is, and send them that letter.

It takes about 5 minutes to do! Let’s help each other stay on the water folks. We are also thinking of creating a petition. Please let us know if you or someone you work with will be or is being affected negatively by the shutdown and will benefit from another extension. Thank you!

It’s Tugboat Tuesday and we’re showcasing some of our favorite eats/ creations over the years!

Cooking for the crew is a big part of a deckhand’s responsibilities. Often times when we’re out here for days or even weeks on end, and food becomes one of the main things we look forward to each day. In between ship assist jobs, moving through locks, and maintaining the engines, we’ve found the time to whip up some yummy things! So we decided to share a few of our favorites! We’ve got raspberry cheesecake, chicken n biscuits, and shower ice cream, just to name a few. 🤭

If you’re stoked on what we’re doing and want to help us reach the next generation, please consider donating to the CRWC. The link to our donation site is in our bio. All donations are tax deductible as we are now a federally recognized 501c3! Thanks for tagging along everyone!!

Circa 2019… where our community started growing. Here’s a few words from our own Megan Emerson about what it meant to have Sasha join her on tugs 7 years ago…

“For six years, I was the only woman working on the vessel side of Tidewater. From the beginning, my crewmates extended me grace as I learned the job, respected my abilities, and treated me as a peer rather than a token. I had no complaints; just a hope to someday see more women join the workforce. When Sasha showed up to the tug on this day in 2019, I felt like my world suddenly expanded. Her drive, charisma, and quick wit - not to mention her background as a diesel mechanic - took the river by storm. I’ve watched her balance hard work with strategy, working overtime to hone her skills and rise, in the old way, up the hawsepipe to captaincy. Now, I can’t imagine the local industry without her.”
