Golden Bond Rescue

Golden Bond Rescue Goldens in need of new homes come from a variety of circumstances. Some of our dogs have not had a loving family in the past, but many have.

Golden Bond Rescue is an all volunteer run, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers and Retriever mixes. Some come to us due to compelling family situations such as death, divorce, family illness, relocation or economic hardship. Other Goldens are released to rescue because of behavior problems due to lack of exercise and poor understandin

g of the needs of the breed. Like many rescue organizations, we offer the benefits of being able to provide dogs who are already spayed or neutered, who have had a sound fundamental health examination, and whose temperament is fairly well known (since they have all lived with our foster families). Some may have behavioral problems, but many do not. And some need special medical care, just as most any dog will eventually. Many of our dogs need some level of training. All of our dogs need significant amounts of time, attention, patience, and love to adjust to their forever homes. Golden Bond Rescue is a resource for people who would like to give Golden Retrievers (or dogs that are mostly Golden) a second chance in life.

❤️🐾 SUCCESS SUNDAY 🐾❤️

JUST ONE LOOK WAS ALL IT TOOK!

We can’t believe it’s almost been two months since Milo came into our lives. We could NEVER have imagined the fit would be - well - perfect. A day doesn’t go by that I don't look at Kelby and remark about how one picture changed our lives. I was just laughing as we crawled into bed (Milo too) - we have never had dogs (he’s our 7th lab) sleep on the bed, but he doesn’t snore, he doesn’t move around and so he is an easy sleeping buddy. I thought our next dog would be a female chocolate lab. Nope. One picture on your website was enough for me to break my only rule for getting dogs: No YELLOWS! His shedding is getting under control and I finally treated myself to the Dyson Animal so all is good 🤣. His leg has healed so well. Just a little hitch in his giddyup going up and down stairs or if he plays too much. Today was his first day going to the water. Based on his pulling like crazy a month or so to get in a body of water, we assumed he knew how to swim. Nope. You could tell he wanted to, but today wasn’t the day. So a new first! We will have him swimming in no time. He has made a number of trips to Bend and he LOVES his vacation home. He has a rock he stands on in the front yard, and he has become neighborhood watch. He has been going to the office with me almost daily. He is doing really well. The other day Milo was sleeping and a client started crying, and he got up and put his head in her lap! It was just what she needed. We pinch ourselves daily. He has fit in perfectly. We are so grateful he is with us and we really love him.

Ruby is one of the foster dogs that we are honoring at this year’s annual dinner and auction on June 27th. These are dogs whose medical or behavioral needs result in their needing ongoing support from the rescue. Ruby had two liver shunt procedures done and she’s on a battery of meds to keep her seizures under control as best as possible. As you can see, she still has a wonderful quality of life.

Charlie is looking for a foster family! Isn't he stunning?!

Here what we know about him:

Purebred Yellow Lab
7-8 years old
Neutered male
Weighs ~98 lbs and needs to lose another 10 lbs.
He has been described as a couch potato, but he'll benefit from daily walks.
He does great with other dogs, but does not do well with cats.
He enjoys being around his people, but he really isn't a velcro dog.
He enjoys eating vegetables, sun bathing and splooting off of furniture.
He has some mild arthritis that he takes daily oral medication for.

IT'S RAINING DOGS!

This spunky girl is an 8-year-old chocolate Lab who has been living at a boarding kennel for over 2 months now😢. Her owner became very sick and can no longer care for her.

Sydney is spayed, appears healthy and is current on vaccinations. She’s a bit chunky but is otherwise spry and active for her age. She’s very friendly and loves water, just like you’d expect from any self respecting Labrador!

She lived with dog and a cat in her previous home but has been snarky and snappy when meeting new dogs at the kennel, most likely due to stress. She’s isn’t reactive when seeing dogs, just grumpy and bossy with greetings. We’d like to find her a home with no other dogs, or maybe with a mellow, low-key dog who will give her the time and space she needs to decompress after being cooped up for so long.
