One of our Kindling trip leaders, Becca, started their own guiding business called Gray Treefrog Guides and they’re running canoe trips this summer and fall.

Join Gray Treefrog Guides for a four night canoe trip in the Downeast Lakes this September 16th - 20th. This trip is open to group bookings only and is first come, first served (open enrollment trips coming next year). Book as a group of 2-5 people and enjoy crisp mornings, red maple foliage, and food from their garden cooked over the fire.

This is a full service trip; gear, food, and trip planning is included. If you book this trip with them you can expect scenic tea and coffee breaks, time to connect with your surroundings, and 3-7 hours of lake paddling each day. All experience levels are welcome. Gray Treefrog Guides is a q***r-owned business.

Check out their website for more info graytreefrogguides.com

Gather in BIPOC community for a weekend in western Maine! We’ll spend two nights at Flagstaff Hut, a cozy off-the-grid eco lodge on Flagstaff Lake with views of the Bigelow Mountains. This trip is for BIPOC outdoor enthusiasts of any level who want to enjoy Maine’s natural beauty in a BIPOC-centered environment. The group will have the lodge to themselves and will connect, cook, eat, and play outside together. Learn more and register at the link in our bio!

Today is Kindling co-director Eva’s BIRTHDAY!

You may not know this, but Eva is the guy doing a lot of the invisible work that makes Kindling function. This includes (but is def not limited to!!!!):

—Designing all of our sick merch and graphics
—Supporting participants in the months leading up to trips (if you’re going on a trip with us, you’ve definitely gotten an email, text, or spent time on the phone with them), helping design wellness plans, and making sure instructors know how to support each participant.
—Designing fitness training plans for participants on our higher level backpacking trips (thanks Coach Fury!).
—Project managing the rest of the Kindling team.
—Building and maintaining our budget and making sure every instructor, collaborator, and team member gets paid.
—Making sure food for all our programs gets ordered and all of us are well fed.
—Offering extremely supportive somatic groundings on our trips and for our staff.
—All of the stuff the rest of us forget to do and every other invisible task you can think of.

If you’ve gotten to experience Eva’s greatness, sound off in the comments with a memory, compliment, or some love! We love you, Eva 💜

Today marks 78 years since the Nakba—when over 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes, around 15,000 people killed, and over 500 towns and villages destroyed. Today, the Nakba continues. We’re sharing our reflections in the slides. Here are some pressing local actions to take:

—Join the “No More Nakba” protest, this Saturday May 16 from 1-2:30pm, Longfellow Square (corner of Congress & State), Portland

—Sign and share the petition linked in our bio and/or write a letter telling our representatives to end the ongoing Nakba
