Real change happens one conversation, one connection, and one block at a time. 🤝

At NW Community Conservancy (NWCC), our dedicated outreach teams are on the ground daily, combining compassion with consistent action. By building trust directly on our streets, we’ve successfully connected 2,168 individuals to critical shelters and services.

We’re proving that a safer, cleaner, and more supportive community is possible when we work together to support our houseless neighbors.

This Memorial Day weekend, we honor the courage and sacrifice of those who served our country, while also recognizing the challenges many veterans continue to face after returning home.

Veteran housing instability remains a critical issue in communities across the country, including right here in Portland. Through outreach, advocacy, and connection to services, NWCC remains committed to supporting vulnerable individuals with dignity and compassion.

Thank you to our partners at Portland Solutions‍ for connecting us to these important resources provided by the Community Resource and Referral Center (CRRC - also known as "Portland Clinic")

NWCC reflects on Memorial Day by spotlighting veterans facing homelessness and mental health challenges in Portland’s Pearl District and the wider Oregon community.

Hope to see you all tonight! Pearl District Neighborhood Association

NWCC is incredibly excited to see the PDNA’s Re-Ignite the Pearl campaign come to life and the energy, creativity, and activations it will bring to the community! This is exactly the kind of momentum that makes the Pearl such a vibrant and special place.

NWCC and PDNA share a strong and growing partnership, and we’re truly excited to continue working side by side to elevate the neighborhood and make the Pearl the absolute best it can be for everyone.

From my professional background in retail and improvement districts, I can’t overstate how impactful activations are. They are one of the most powerful ways to showcase the fun, welcoming, and vibrant spirit of a neighborhood—and to remind people why they love being there in the first place.
These moments create energy. They bring people in, build excitement, and give the broader community a true feel for what the district is all about. And that momentum matters—because increased foot traffic doesn’t just help in the short term, it sparks long-term growth by attracting more activations, more retailers, and more businesses.

It’s how great districts build buzz, rebuild identity, and create lasting success. - Chase

Pearl District Neighbors & Friends,

Tuesday is almost here — and this one matters.

One year ago, 500+ of us packed The Armory to speak out against something. The room was full, the energy was undeniable, and our voices were heard.

This Tuesday, April 28, we’re asking you to do it again — but this time, we’re coming together for something positive.

Re-Ignite the Pearl is our community’s plan to bring this neighborhood back — more vibrant, more active, and more alive than it has been in years. And the size of the crowd on Tuesday sends a message just as powerful as the one we sent a year ago.

A full room tells City Hall, tells business owners, tells the media, and tells every person considering investing in this neighborhood: the Pearl District is organized, it is optimistic, and it is moving forward.

Here’s what’s on the agenda:

★ SHELTER UPDATE — Linda Witt, Chair of the PDNA Shelter Oversight Committee, with an honest status report.

★ RE-IGNITE THE PEARL — Foot traffic data, the revitalization strategy, lots of new events and the specific actions underway right now to restore pre-COVID vibrancy.

★ FARMERS MARKET ANNOUNCEMENT — Details on the launch of the new Pearl District Culinary Farmers Market. This one is big.

★ SPECIAL GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT — Prosper Portland Executive Director Cornell Wesley joins us with news for the Pearl District.

★ REMARKS FROM COUNCILOR OLIVIA CLARK — Vice President of the Portland City Council, representing District 4.

This is a positive initiative — built by neighbors, for neighbors. But it only works if we show up together.

Please forward this email. Invite your neighbors. Text a friend who lives in the Pearl. The more people in that room Tuesday night, the stronger our signal to the entire city.

Doors open at 5:00 PM. The program begins promptly at 5:30 PM.

The Armory | 128 NW 11th Avenue | Free to attend

See you TOMORROW!
