September Pearl District Recap: cooler days, mild nights, and a hopeful shift on the street. Our professional outreach team was out every day, and while requests for water and medical assistance dropped, service connections held steady or rose. Most encouraging of all, more people were open to hearing about shelter and support.

September by the numbers:
81 meals provided
73 contacts with people experiencing homelessness
64 resource connections
18 tent self-relocations
6 shelter referrals
1 detox referral

Shelter changes near the Pearl:
Northrup Shelter: closed Sept. 18
Navigation Center on Naito: closed
SE Grand Overnight Shelter: open
Oasis Day Center (Broadway & Glisan): open

Alongside people experiencing houselessness every day, and we know how complicated these issues are. That’s why we’re encouraging our community to attend the Homeless Solutions Coalition’s Expert Panel Discussion and Multnomah County Chair Candidate Forum.
Date: Tuesday, October 20

Location: First Baptist Church, 909 SW 11th Ave
Hear from leaders at Health Share of Oregon, Central City Concern, and CityTeam Portland, with special guest Gov. John Kitzhaber and KGW’s Blair Best moderating. Then hear directly from the candidates for County Chair.

The Northwest Community Conservancy is partnering with the Portland Police Bureau to strengthen safety in the Pearl District.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment between neighborhood organizations and city law enforcement to keep the community safe, connected, and thriving.

Important Park Hours Update and News

We have important updates about our parks. Fields Park has reopened see updates here- https://www.portland.gov/parks/news/2026/8/5/fields-park-mostly-reopen-after-centennial-mills-fire.

And we want to share news about Tanner Springs and Jamison Square—the hours have changed, and both parks now close at 10 p.m. If someone is in a park after closing, Portland Park Rangers can address it (503) 823-1637.
