October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month Will you stand with Survivors??

At Hidaya Women’s Resource and Advocacy Program (HWRAP), we work with families whose lives have been deeply impacted by domestic violence (DV), sexual assault (SA), war, and other traumatic experiences. Healing from abuse is never quick or easy. For many survivors, the effects can last years. And when children are involved, the pain is multiplied.

There is no instant fix.
There is no easy way out.
But with the right support, there is hope.

Many of the women in our program are eager to rebuild their lives, but they are navigating the long casting shadows of PTSD, trauma, and fear. Some are healing from visible wounds. Others bear invisible scars. Many women who have endured not only abuse in the home but also war, displacement, and terrorism in their countries of origin.

At HWRAP, we believe healing must be holistic. We believe in the power of community, in true self-determination, and in walking with women, not judging them, as they take courageous steps toward safety and freedom.

But the truth is: leaving an abuser is incredibly hard — especially when financial resources are scarce. Many women stay in unsafe situations simply because they cannot afford to leave.

In the last 6 months alone, HWRAP has spent over $25,000 to support just 6 families in accessing safe housing. This includes emergency shelter in hotels, first and last month’s rent, and security deposits. And that’s just the beginning! This it does not include the help with food, utilities, legal aid, or even basic furnishings that we assist with. Some families flee with nothing: no beds, no blankets, no time to prepare.

We are sharing this with you because we need your help.

Your support allows us to continue this vital, life-saving work. Help us ensure that women and children are not left to face the aftermath of violence alone.

Will you stand with us?

Your donation can help provide:

Emergency shelter
Safe housing and rent assistance
Food and basic essentials
Legal and advocacy support
A community of healing and hope
Every dollar makes a difference.
Every life saved is priceless.

This October, as we honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we invite you to be part of the solution.

Donate today!! Help us build a world where no survivor has to choose between violence and homelessness.

With gratitude,
The HWRAP Team

The crisis impacts victims, who may fear for their safety and struggle to find closure when criminal cases are delayed. It also impacts the defendants, who may lose their jobs or housing, their ability to travel or their kids while their legal status is in limbo.

Salaam Aleikum and greetings! Hidaya Women’s Resource and Advocacy, the advocacy program of Muslimahs United, has been very active in supporting our community. While we are mindful of privacy & confidentiality we would like to share a summary of what we’ve achieved:

We have served over 40 women in the past year, offering in depth wrap-around serivee that consider all aspects of wholistic vital support and resources.
Hosted monthly, trauma-informed peer support wellness sessions, where sisters gather in a safe, cultivated space with trained advocates who specialize in trauma care, providing insight and community support to those who have faced oppression.
Secured long-term, safe, quality housing for 12 families, assisting with applications, credit issues, move-in deposits, monthly rent, housing supplies, safety equipment, moving services, food, toiletries, and more.
Provided connections for sisters to receive legal and spiritual advice to help them navigate challenges.
Connected sisters with mental health professionals and encouraged participation in community events and functions.
Organized guided outdoor activities and events for Muslim women
Continuously provided cultivated spaces that foster community, inclusion, and a sense of belonging.
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and support our community, and we remain committed to helping women in need thrive.
