It is estimated that 70% of Mexicoโs 18 million dogs live on the street, either born as strays or abandoned by their owners. I found my dog, Winnie, through The MexiMutt Project. She became a part of the adoption program after her owner wanted her to be euthanized because they no longer wanted her. She was found abandoned on the street after the veterinarian refused the request. The mission of the
MexiMutt Project is to provide the street dog population with sterilization, food, flea and tick treatments and medical treatment as needed. The
organization is stationed in Chapala, Mexico. They hope to at least give the dogs a better quality of life on the streets. Their founder, Angela Adams, commutes back and forth between Mexico and Oregon to place their rescued dogs in loving homes. They currently have over 20 dogs listed for adoption on Petfinder. The MexiMutt Adopt a Portrait Project was dedicated to support the mission with continuing funds through painting portraits of the rescued dogs who are listed for adoption. While caring individuals or families may not have a place to physically keep the adoptable dogs, they can adopt their portraits to help the organization continue their mission. Each painting was done in Oil, 20"x20"x1.75" deep gallery wrap profile. Price is $500. 100% of the profit directs to the organization to support their daily rescue effort. Thank you for helping us help them. Rescue organization info:
