You give her more than safety. You give her moments of joy.

Thanks to your generous support, we not only keep our girls safe, we also take them shopping for school, provide essentials, and make space for fun, friendship, and healing. From new books to swimsuits, from nutritious meals to laughter at the dinner table—this is what recovery with dignity looks like.

For girls who have known fear, your giving offers freedom. Every gift makes a lasting difference.

Naomi's Success: A Bright Future Ahead!

Great news! Thanks to the support of Global Roots donors, Naomi, the young Maasai girl we rescued from FGM in April, has been safely enrolled in boarding school. Without your help, she could have faced a different fate. Naomi is now free to pursue her dreams, and FGM ZERO will continue to monitor and protect her until she is at least 18 years old.

The FGM Zero team recently conducted an impactful outreach at Lolgorian, Narok County, engaging with young girls to foster motivation and reinforce the importance of education. Leaving the girls inspired to continue their educational journey, the team also provided guidance on reporting FGM threats, a practice still prevalent in their community.

In collaboration with the national and county government, we earnestly hope for the enforcement of strict measures to combat FGM, allowing human rights to thrive.

FGM Zero remains unwavering in its commitment to achieving a future with zero cases of FGM. Our goal is to create a community where every girl can flourish without the shadow of harmful practices.

The FGM Zero team recently visited Sekenani Girls High School in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Engaging in a heartfelt conversation, the team connected with a total of 500 girls, delving into the critical issues surrounding FGM and its impact on the education of young girls.

We left with smiles and gratitude, as the girls not only absorbed the information but also pledged to prioritize education over FGM and early marriages.

FGM ZERO Team Update

April 6, 2021

The FGM ZERO team initiated a research effort to gauge the prevalence of FGM within the Maasai community of Kenya. The findings revealed that girls aged 10 to 15 face the highest risk, with a significant number having either undergone or being at risk of FGM.

This discovery underscores the urgent need to raise awareness among young girls about the dangers of FGM. Many remain unaware of their rights, and there's a concerning lack of information regarding the perils associated with this harmful practice.
