CONGRATULATIONS to our own Luz Ortiz for being recognized as a Game ChangHER Award winner by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund!

Luz Ortiz is a coach players seek out and trust.

With more than seven years of coaching experience across Junior Giants, local fast pitch leagues and travel softball, Luz brings a balance of fun, accountability and deep knowledge of the game. Her impact is evident in the number of players who request her as their coach year after year. This season alone, demand was so high that her Junior Giants roster grew to eighteen players.

Luz challenges her athletes to be better players and better people. She holds them accountable while creating a positive environment that keeps girls engaged and excited to learn. Her goal is not just to teach softball, but to instill discipline and a lifelong love of the game.

Because of Luz’s leadership, girls in Porterville are learning that they belong on the field and that hard work and belief can take them far beyond it.

Strike Out Bullying Art Contest Submissions:
The City of Porterville Junior Giants had several submissions by players for the Strike Out Bullying Art Contest this season. The top selection in each age division (5-7, 8-10 and 11-13 years old) from Porterville were sent to San Francisco last week, where an overall winner will be chosen and receive special recognition. CONGRATULATIONS to our top entries!
