Yellow River Water Trail

Yellow River Water Trail [email protected]
The Yellow River Water Trail is a grassroots development of 53 miles of beautiful paddling trail in Georgia.

The Yellow River Water Trail is 53 miles. A WATER TRAIL is the water equivalent of a hiking trail. Blueways, canoe trails and paddle trails are all water trails. Water Trails have access points along the river for putting boats on the water or taking them off. Water Trails are used by paddlers, anglers, hikers and picnickers of all ages and ability. The Yellow River Water trail is being developed

in phases. Potential partners includes Gwinnett, Dekalb, Rockdale and Newton County. The Yellow River stretches from Gwinnett county to Lake Jackson. With a piedmont flavor, the Yellow River has a wide array of wildlife and a rich history from prior mill towns and Native American settlements.

An interesting & informative portal for GA River basins… the Yellow is in the Upper Ocmulgee basin

Did you know Georgia is home to 14 major river basins - with nine in the Metro North Georgia region - each collecting rainfall and directing it through streams and rivers to larger waterways and eventually the ocean? A river basin includes all the land area where water drains into a specific river system.

These basins support communities across the state by providing drinking water, wildlife habitat, recreation, and irrigation for agriculture. From the mountains of North Georgia to the coastal plains, each basin plays a critical role in Georgia’s water resources and natural ecosystems.

Small actions—like reducing pollution, conserving water, and protecting streams—help keep our river basins healthy for future generations.

🌊 Fun fact: Georgia has more than 44,000 miles of perennial streams flowing through its river basins.
