Sacopee Valley Snowdrifters A small, dedicated group of snowmobilers maintaining over 35 miles of trails for use by winter outdoor sports enthusiasts.

Sacopee Valley Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club was formedd in 1976 by a group of Snowmobilers that were committed in sharing their passion of the sport, by developing a trail system in the Towns of Parsonsfield, Porter, and South Hiram. Our trail system meanders through scenic Sacopee Valley in the foothills of Western Maine, with several scenic vistas, connecting with trail systems in the adjoining

Towns of Brownfield, Cornish, Hiram, Limerick, and Newfield, allowing for travel through Western Maine and beyond

We welcome snowmobilers, cross country skiers, snowshoers, dog sledders, and winter hikers to use our scenic trails. We welcome new members and donations are accepted to insure the maintenance of our trails and bridges. Our trail system exists through the generosity of local land owners, we ask that you be respectful of their property by staying on marked trails, and carry out what you carry in. The use of the trails is a priviledge, not a right. Please adhere to snowmobiling safety practices by riding to the right, ride sober at reasonable speeds, using hand signals, and yielding to trail groomers

This has been in the garage for some 25 years and thought I’d share for those who are newer to the sport/area.

Unfortunately there is no date on the map, but this map was from when BMSC was part of the Pemi club. Some years later, BMSC split off to manage the trails on the eastern side of Newfound Lake and Pemi kept the southern trails. Which made sense since they are really not connected by a trail system.

At some point before the 2017-2018 season, the Pemi club folded and those trails now are at risk of closing for good pending them being taken over by clubs south of Newfound Lake. Why did it fold? Speculating, lack of support, few volunteers, trail closure pressures, and likely other reasons...these are the same factors that every club faces, every month of the year.

We have a vulnerable sport...it runs on “Givers”. Landowners that give access to land, volunteers that give many hours of their time to run clubs and maintain trails. State resources give us funds once we properly apply for grants for projects and the like. And riders that give their dollars to support snowmobiling.

So as the season approaches this year, consider getting more involved in the sport. Offer your time. The club where you live or ride needs your skills. We all have a little something to offer. Let’s keep the trails open cause once they close, they are likely gone for good.
