Hello Miller Ikes. As summer months continue on, I hope this message finds you well. On August 11 we took a major hit in Northwest Indiana. As many of us experienced this was a serious weather event that showed no mercy. In other words, Mother Nature showed up uninvited! Because of this many of us experienced blackout conditions for several weeks. I truly hope if you experienced this; that you have recovered with minimal damage and are doing well. We received our fair share of damage at the chapter on the East side property. Many trees were knocked down and there was damage to the pavilion roof. There was a group of members that worked tirelessly to clean up all the debris, and I want to thank you all for going above and beyond. I am very sorry that we cancelled the family picnic. I look so forward to this event more than you could possibly imagine. The fellowship at this event is amazing. But, based upon blackout conditions one week prior, and loss of revenue, we looked at the financial aspect of the event and decided to forgo the picnic for this year. We will recover and make repairs to the pavilion and look forward to the upcoming Haunted Hayride, which is October 17 and 18th. We are looking for extra help if you would like to set up a scary area or dress up and scare the hay wagons when they drive by. If you have any questions for the hayride, you can contact Patty or myself anytime. I wish you all well as summer winds down and the kids are back in school. We are steadily working on our projects throughout the property and can always use an extra hand. If you have time available and would like to help on the grounds, please contact myself or Nick Roe. Monthly meeting nights are the first Tuesday of the month at 7PM, and everyone is invited to attend. We always welcome new and fresh ideas, so please don’t be bashful. I look forward to another year as your chapter president and thank you for all your support this last year.

We are sorry to say that we are canceling the Family picnic on Saturday, August 29, due to the storm, no power for so many, and the clubhouse being closed with no income coming in. This was a Family Picnic Committee decision not made lightly. Stay tuned for future events.
