Misanthropic actor Reese thought they were lucky when they found a direct flight to Kalamazoo from LA to attend the Christmas day grand opening of their friend's new q***r bar. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. Cancelled, delayed, and rerouted, Reese gets caught in a transportation whirlwind just trying to make it home for the holidays. Things get worse when they meet the forever cheerful Julien, a baker from Denver trying to make it home to compete in her grandma's annual cookie competition. Twisting and turning their way through planes, trains, and automobiles, the race to make it to Kalamazoo before Christmas is on. A holiday romantic comedy that has all your favorite Hallmark tropes, Merry, Q***r, and Bright is just what everyone needs to warm your heart, revel in mirth, and feel a little closer to your found family this season.

The Night Before Christmas offers a fresh and comedic twist on Clement C. Moore’s classic poem, exploring how the famous verse may have come to be written. Originally commissioned by the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre in 2012, this delightful hour-long, one-act play features cows transforming into reindeer, toys coming to life, a surprise visit from Santa Claus, and festive seasonal music. Set in 1823 on the Moore family’s Manhattan estate, the story follows the family as they prepare a special surprise for their children on Christmas Eve. Tickets: Pay-What-You-Will
In the spirit of making theatre accessible to all, Open House Theatre Company offers tickets on a Pay-What-You-Will basis. (Suggested donations are $15 per person or $5 for children under 12.) Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance online at tinyurl.com/OHTCtickets.

A Truly Family-Friendly Experience
This production is designed with children in mind, featuring imaginative storytelling, playful surprises, and audience participation. Several talented youth step into key roles, including Bennett Quincy, who will reprise the role of Michael, along with our summer theatre kids’ camp alumni Maddie McCoy, Cash Drewyor, and Claire Wildner. They’ll be joined by gifted young newcomers Callum Heaps and Callie Ravotas. Adult performers Miriam Epskamp and David Uttermohlen are also back this year, along with another newcomer to Open House Theatre Company, David Knewtson, who rounds out the cast. After the show, you are invited to stay a while to chat with the cast and enjoy complimentary cocoa and cookies. There will also be an opportunity to take photos with Santa Claus!

In the last year it has been my pleasure to meet and produce two of Deborah Ann Percy and Arnold Johnston plays. The first was "Continuum Care" and now the charming Christmas story, "The Night Before Christmas." Meeting them and visiting with them has been a highlight of this past year. First time I met them was over coffee and a half and hour flew by as their dialogue between them flows as easily as one of their plays. From the deepest part of my being I am grateful for the opportunity to direct and produce their plays. Thank you, Deborah and Arnold for these opportunities. May your plays continue to flow and bring joy to your audiences for years to come.
