After years of name calling finger pointing
Foot dragging and money shuffling
On May 4 2026 ground was finally broken on the National monument to the Afghan mission
NOTE I DID NOT SAY WAR
This memorial is finally beginning built
Approx completion 2028.
Honoring 40000 that served
The 158 that paid the ultimate price
And the one diplomat and 4 aid workers a government contractor and a journalist who died in the conflict

On a separate note not ONE AFGHANISTAN VETERAN PARTICIPATED IN THE GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY

This entire endeavor from being to end has minimalism and marginalized
The valent sacrifice of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, and also those who are still among us
Canadian Vets deserve more than to be pawns in someone's attempt at legacy building
When will we stop putting perfomance and politics over patriotism

Veterans deserve respect, not exploitation.

And we're definitely not your campaign assets.
We are people, with stories, we have loved and lost on a grand scale, and we have a dedication to service that a spec like you could only dream of achieving.
We honour lived experience with action, not political spin .
