Peninsula Weavers and Spinners will be hosting our first Zoom meeting on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:00pm. We will open Zoom at 6:30 so you can chat and become familiar with Zoom if you've not used it. Send a message to this page if you need the link that went out to members this past week.

Our program will be an introduction to Zoom and Ravelry, and discussion of how best to stay involved with the guild. We'll also be sharing plans for our upcoming programs.

There will be no more "in person" meetings for the rest of the guild year. Keep watching this space for any announcements of other ways to stay in touch.
In the meantime, what have you been working on? Any photos to post?

The February Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 11 February 2020

Location: St Pauls Episcopal Church Parish Hall, Corner of Tyler and Jefferson Streets in PT.

Doors will open at 630pm and the program will start at 7pm. Show and Tell and the business meeting will follow the program.

Our program is: 2019 Bolivian Textile Adventure presented by Kate Snow and Kathy Daniels

Looking forward to seeing what everyone accomplished since we had to cancel the january meeting due to weather. Our May Meeting is the guild fashion show so you still have a few months to finish those garments and accessories!

Also, plan ahead! We'll be hosting Amelia Garripoli in March. Presentation: The Pangaea of Spindles

Spindles have been in use around the world since almost the beginning of making textiles. With the variety of styles of spindles, we see techniques reappear in different ways with different spindles. In this talk, I explore those cross-overs and we see how techniques are used, from the simple rock spindle to the modern spindles we use today.

I will demonstrate the techniques and show the hidden connections between spindles that are culturally different. All make the thread that feeds the textiles we craft from them.

Attendees are also welcome to bring their odd spindles to share and discuss as well.

There will be a spindle spinning workshop on Thursday, March 12, 9-4, with Amelia. Sign ups will be taken at the February Guild meeting. Cost will depend on the number of attendees to the workshop (but the cost will be very reasonable). We'll be collecting a $10 deposit to hold your space in the workshop.
