“Fiddle Tunes” is a week-long, total-immersion workshop with a hallmark of presenting an expansive array of regional fiddle styles. Workshops, classes, band labs, tutorials, dances, concerts, singing, open jams, hat parties – all contribute to a week of living, learning, and jamming with masters of regional fiddling traditions

You’ll learn by the oral tradition - listen, imitate, listen, practice

, and listen again. The main teaching focus is on the fiddle, but you’ll find day-long instruction on the banjo, guitar, and button accordion, and nearly as many classes on piano, keyboard accordion, singing, clogging, string bass, mandolin, and social dance.

Art Opening: Sally Jablonsky at Northwind Art

Northwind Art presents a new exhibition by Sally Jablonsky, opening Thursday, October 16, at the gallery, 701 Water Street, Port Townsend.

A featured celebration will take place during Gallery Walk on Saturday, November 1, from 5–8 p.m., when Sally will be present and there will be live music in the gallery. The following morning, Sunday, November 2, at 10 a.m., she’ll offer an artist talk—a chance to hear more about her work over coffee and donuts.

Gallery hours are Thursday–Monday, noon–5 p.m.

Sally’s paintings explore the experience of being a body in the natural world, drawing on her background growing up in wild places and living with chronic illness. Her work examines the relationship between humans and nature, interdependence, and the shared conditions of living beings.

Sally has also been part of Centrum’s Fiddle Tunes community since childhood, and we’re proud to share news of her first solo show at Northwind.

Will you be at home today? We - Elise, Anna and Maja - will finally be together at Elise's house in Lillestrøm (Norway) to get some work done on the new album, and prepare a bit for our concerts the next few days. And now that we're actually together in the same place at the same time, we've had an idea: We have so many followers outside of Scandinavia that have limited opportunities to hear us play live. And we really like keeping in touch with you all, especially those of you that we don't bump into automatically on a regular basis. So we thought "why not make an official live presentation of the new music, and make it available for everyone - not only those who can show up to our concerts?", and we decided to make a free (!!) online concert and a small Q&A session TODAY for all of you! All you need to do to join us and hear some of the new music LIVE and ask us any questions you might have, is sign up for our newsletter (at the latest two hour before showtime) - find out how in the c0mm3nts!
