Olympic Angeles creates PCEs by connecting children and youth experiencing foster care with caring adults who show up consistently, build trust, and help them feel seen and valued.

Olympic Angels walks alongside children, youth, and families in the foster care community through practical support, meaningful relationships, and mentorship in East Clallam and Jefferson counties.

His name is Tobin. And by middle school, he was beginning to feel like he had to figure life out alone. 😒

Tobin entered kinship care as an infant alongside his older sister, Lily. They had people who loved them. But as they grew, their paths began to look different. 🔀

Lily found a steady connection with her mentor, Emily - someone she trusted, leaned on, and grew alongside. Tobin knew Emily, too, but that same connection never took root for him. 🫶🏻

As Lily began to thrive, Tobin was still searching for where he belonged. Without a trusted adult he felt he could turn to, he began leaning toward whatever offered comfort or acceptance in the moment. 🫂

Love was part of his story. So was the need for a consistent relationship he could count on.

We recently asked one of our volunteers to share their experience with us - their response was so heartfelt we can’t help but share. ❤️

“It feels like one of the great honors of my life to be able to show up in this way. I love this caregiver & baby so truly, and feel so lucky to be welcomed into their lives. It’s so fun to bring flowers, to get to know her absolute joy in noticing that the window she has stared at for so long was magically cleaned, to watch her light up when I bring her food and hold the baby so she can actually take some time to eat. Caretaking for a caregiver like this sometimes means filling up a glass of water and not leaving until she drinks it all, and that makes us both laugh and smile at how simple it is to be human. I love being helpful, I love knowing that I am someone she trusts to reach out to for advice, for emotional support, that I will show up with love and compassion and that she understands it is my pleasure to listen and reflect back to her that she’s a superstar. When I can help with childcare, I do. I hang out with a curious and sweet baby, who loves to be read to, lets me sing so badly and smiles back at me endlessly. It’s not all sunshine and roses on this path they’re walking, but walking alongside them gives them an opportunity to pause and even notice that there are in fact roses and that despite all the hardships, the sun does in fact continue to shine. Being a part of this LB group also gives me hope, gives me another reason to adore and admire and be inspired by my community. These folks hold so much in their hearts and give and give and give so selflessly and with such integrity. All that to say, I am enjoying and appreciating my role as a volunteer.”

📚 “Literacy changes everything!”

We were honored to attend United Way of Clallam County’s Celebrate United campaign kickoff, thanks to a volunteer who purchased seats for three of our staff. It gave us the chance to learn, connect, and be part of an important community conversation. 💙

That gift is a reminder that support can take many forms: a Chamber business sponsoring Olympic Angels for a seat at the Chamber, someone purchasing tickets to a community event, or an organization donating space at its table or booth. These gifts help us show up and build relationships while keeping donor dollars focused on our programs and the children, youth & families we support.

Thank you to United Way of Clallam County for bringing our community together, and to the volunteer who made room for us at the table. ✨

So… what do we do, anyways? 💙

Our mission is to walk alongside children, youth, and families in the foster care community by offering consistent support through intentional giving.

But what does that actually look like?

It looks like showing up - and continuing to show up.

It’s helping meet practical needs. Being a listening ear. Celebrating milestones. Offering guidance. Remembering the little things. Being someone a child, youth, or caregiver knows they can count on.

Because foster care can come with a lot of change… and we believe consistent relationships can change what comes next.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Support looks different for every child, youth, and family we serve - because their needs, stories, and goals are different, too.

We’re here to build relationships, strengthen families, and create lasting support.

That’s how we change the stats. 💙

✨ Meet Nikayla! ✨

If you’ve met Nikayla, you’ve probably learned pretty quickly that she’s a big-picture thinker who loves connecting people💙

As our Marketing & Development Manager, Nikayla brings creativity, intentionality, and a deep belief that everyone has something meaningful to bring to the table. She’s passionate about building connections and creating spaces where people - especially children - feel seen, valued, and supported.

When she’s not at work, you’ll likely find her with her kids, or wishing the Pacific Northwest had a little more warm weather. ☀️

Nikayla believes life is rarely “one size fits all,” but there’s always something we can do to make a difference - and she’s grateful to be doing that work alongside the Olympic Angels community.
