Safe in the Arms of Jesus...
One of our most treasured and active members, Tommy Barr, went to be with Jesus in the early morning hours, today, August 31, 2026.
We will share the obituary once we receive it, but here are the arrangements.

Wednesday, September 2nd
*4 - 9 PM Visitation at Pomeroy Funeral Home in Carsonville

Thursday, September 3rd
*10 AM Visitation at Pomeroy Funeral Home in Carsonville immediately before the funeral
*11 AM Funeral Service at Pomeroy, officiated by Pastor Joshua Johnson
*12 Noon or approximate -- Graveside service at Forrester Cemetery
*1 PM or approximate -- Funeral Luncheon at Port Sanilac Methodist Church

For Church Members/Attendees -- Pam Trigger is coordinating the luncheon. If you are willing/able to help and/or bring food for the luncheon, please talk to Pam ASAP.
Set-up of tables, chairs etc for the luncheon is going to be tomorrow, TENTATIVELY around 11 AM. Talk to Pam or Mike Trigger if you can help with that and to confirm the time.

Facebook deletes live-stream videos after 30 days. Once we have enough followers we can stream live here as well. Until then we will post after the fact.

After the 811 Utility marker folks recommended we not pull out the bushes due to utility lines, Mike Trigger 's chainsaw did the trick.

This Week at Port Sanilac Methodist Church (August 24, 2026).

Mon, Aug 24th: 1st day of school for Carsonville-Port Sanilac... pray for students, teachers and staff!

Wed, Aug 26th: Bible Study at 6:30 PM -- Discovery Bible Study, each week stands on its own. Not a series.

Thurs, Aug 27th: PSMC member, Lily Johnson, delegate to GMC General Conference 2026 in Johannesburg, South Africa departs to travel. GC itself starts Aug 30th. Pray for safe travels. She returns Sept 7th. Lily is one of the youngest delegates in the world at age 23.

Sunday, Aug 30th:

@ 11 AM meeting for Certified Lay Ministers, students and any others interested.

Sun, August 30th to Saturday, September 5th... General Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa. This is the highest governing body of the denomination and our 7,200+ local churches. Bishops for the next six years are chosen. The BoDD is updated and the big picture priorities are set for the GMC. Pray for wisdom and God's presence. Our Great Lakes Annual Conference will be receiving a new bishop, so especially pray for that decision.

There is one error we should have clarified. In July, 2023 the church dropped "United" from our name and is just "Port Sanilac Methodist Church". We are now a part of the Global Methodist denomination. Approximately 7,000 US churches withdrew from the UMC and many formed the GMC.

Global Methodist congregations own our own properties and have more (advisory) say in who our bishop will appoint as pastor. We tend to be more traditional in theology as well. The GMC is working toward long term pastorates instead of regular moves.
