FDOT has completed the design plans to restore 6 lanes of traffic on Roosevelt Bridge and construction will begin as soon as tonight. The estimated cost of the project is $9.3 million. Work on the Roosevelt Bridge project will be conducted 7 days a week and is expected to be completed by the end of December. All portions of the project timeline are contingent upon the weather.

The project consists of work to repair one span of the southbound bridge, minor work inside both bridges, restoration of the medians on U.S. 1 at each end of the bridge, and restoring Dixie Highway to its original condition. FDOT expects that the southbound bridge can safely reopen to traffic by late October/early November with 4 lanes of traffic initially, two in each direction, and weight restrictions can also be lifted. Upon reopening the southbound bridge, the contractor will restore the medians on U.S. 1, allowing for 6 lanes of traffic, 3 in each direction, by late November. Dixie Highway will be restored to its original condition near the end of the project after temporary shoring has been removed.

Greetings Treasure Coast Chapter,
• Our next event is tentative due to the COVID-19 issues. Unfortunately Florida cases have been on the rise and we have had to postpone all of our events to date. We hope to find a window of opportunity in early August to have an in-person event.
• The suggested event for early August is the fishing tournament where we would be able to socialize in an outdoor setting. We will include the officer installation ceremony at this event too.
• Congratulations Treasure Coast Chapter on being awarded the 2nd Place ACE Award for Chapter Excellence for 2020. This was achieved by our diligence as a Chapter to continue to provide our four engineering scholarships as well as our efforts to promote engineering at the local community college IRSC.
• FES State has been offering PHD webinars free to all members and we want to be sure we are taking these virtual courses that are taking place of this year’s Annual Conference. Please check your emails from www.fleng.com
• A huge shout-out to our homegrown State leaders Marcos / Adam / Kelly / Will - so grateful for your leadership.
• Lastly we want to be sure all of our members are safe as and we look forward to meeting again as soon as possible.
