While performing work in Tradition near Village Parkway, a contractor hit a large diameter water main. The leak has been isolated and water has been restored. However, many residents and businesses in the areas west of Interstate 95, east of Range Line Road, north of the Martin County line and south of Tradition Parkway are under a precautionary 48-hour boil water notice. (Please see the map in the comments below.)

Should customers experience prolonged loss of water pressure or any other water-related issues, contact Utility Systems at 772-873-6400, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or send an email to [email protected]. Residents also can start a live chat at utility.cityofpsl.com between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

We’re following the TIM conversation closely and hope to clarify a few points: Each of the CDD’s in Traditon have the opportunity to opt into the program. This has dictated the current routing and expansion of future routes.

This map is a work in progress and we’re certainly open to adding additional stops. Even though some people never choose to take advantage of TIM, there’s still a net benefit that we all enjoy. Every time someone hops on TIM, that's likely one fewer car in traffic—or potentially one more available parking space.

We're committed to coming up with creative solutions to the parking challenges and welcome your continued input.

TIM has been part of the Tradition community for the past two years. Over that time, it has become one of the most innovative developments of autonomous shuttles in the country. Through the use of high tech, electric, convenient, and accessible mobility services across our 17 square mile community, our unique and innovative transportation option has moved more than 16,000 community members, reduced more than 9,000 traditional car trips and eliminated many metric tons of carbon emissions while giving us accessible transportation options for people of all abilities throughout Tradition.

In the coming weeks, TIM will be launching with new enhancements and software updates as our community shuttles continue to improve how they operate in Tradition. Additional enhancement to how TIM operates include new routes where the shuttles will have their own lane. This will enable TIM to operate more quickly and efficiently with a majority of the routes now off primary roadways. Below is a diagram for how this network will now connect more people in our community.

In the coming weeks, we will share more details of how your use of TIM positively impacts our environment, makes our roadways safer, and achieves the goal of convenient mobility for all. We know these are goals we all share.

Tradition has a long history of community gatherings and events. The success of these events has created a dynamic that benefits our community and local businesses by increasing patronage and activity around Tradition Square. In our effort to address event traffic and parking concerns, we were exploring interim concepts which included keeping Mattamy’s parcel between East Park and West Park avenues green but allowing it to be used as overflow parking on a limited basis. As part of our normal outreach process, we shared our concepts with the public which created some confusion and concern—which we regret.

We want to state that we will NOT use the greenspace for overflow parking.

We will continue to engage with the community as we pursue interim solutions until future venues come online in Tradition.

Mattamy wants all Tradition residents to know that nothing has been finalized regarding the proposed Green Space Overflow Parking and we sincerely appreciate comments and concerns. Mattamy would like to offer clarification on this matter as there is a tremendous number of misunderstandings and misconceptions:

• The greenspace overflow parking concept is proposed to maintain the open space and recreational use, while providing parking for a few signature events taking place over the year.

• The greenspace will not be paved, nor was it ever considered to be paved. Mattamy is proposing keeping the space as green space while making it usable for potential parking when needed from time-to-time.

• The genesis for the green space overflow concept is based on comments and concerns from residents and businesses regarding parking issues in the downtown and in no way is a direct benefit to Mattamy.

• The idea for greenspace overflow parking was first shared with small groups of residents in early December 2022. Mattamy holds quarterly outreach meetings with HOA Board Members and CDD supervisors to get feedback on these types of issues before going to the public. The green space overflow parking concept was received positively during those meetings.

• As part of Mattamy’s public outreach and before making any final decisions, we are now sharing the greenspace overflow parking concept with the public and WILL take comments into consideration.

Other important information as we remain open and transparent during this process:

• Tradition is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and has become a vibrant and growing community over this time in large part to Mattamy’s commitment to the community.

• Events in the Town Square have been occurring since the community’s inception.

• Mattamy recognizes the community has outgrown Town Square so a larger venue with space for events to accommodate the community at full buildout is being planned for Southern Grove off Becker Road and 95. Once built large events will be moved from town square to the new venue.

• Local businesses that are part of the community cannot survive solely on Tradition residents and outside visitors are needed for their viability.

• Mattamy maintains its commitment to the community and will continue to conduct its outreach, very much appreciating input and collaboration to continue to make Tradition great!

It has been brought to our attention that there are parking issues in downtown Tradition during events. We are taking three steps to improve parking:
1. Continue event parking on the Mattamy-owned fenced in parcel by the Lake.
2. We have made an agreement with Christ Fellowship Church to use their parking lot for event parking, with a shuttle going back and forth to carry event-goers.
3. We are exploring options to convert parallel parking on East Park Ave and West Park Ave to angled parking and utilizing the grass as overflow event parking. The grass will be hardened and remain; the area will just be used for overflow parking. These changes will allow us to accommodate 42 vehicles in the permanent angled parking and 82 vehicles in the grass overflow spots.

The Master Developer and residents from the Del Webb Trail Committee have reached an agreement regarding the Tradition Nature Trail. Trail construction will continue as planned. However, instead of an at-grade crossing at Gingerline Rd, the road will be raised slightly and the trail will be lowered to pass through an underpass. The win-win solution will benefit everyone in our community.

Multiple new school sites are being conveyed for the St. Lucie County School District in our area. There is a 49-acre location for a high school off of Crosstown Pkwy, expected to open in 2025; a 20-acre K-8 school site near the proposed Tradition Regional Park, expected to open in 2027; and to accommodate future growth, two addition K-8 school locations are currently being planned. One along Village Parkway near the proposed Stars and Stripes Park and the second off of Becker Rd. Currently, there are no immediate plans for these two additional K-8 schools.

As a result of the TIM accident on Sunday, December 4, TIM operations have been suspended pending a full investigation by Beep, the company operating the TIM shuttles. The safety of our community remains a top priority. Mattamy Homes is ensuring accountability and transparency throughout this process, and the program will remain suspended until all questions are resolved.
