Members of the Knights of Pythias and Order of Calanthe from across the Panhandle of Florida gathered at New Bethel A.M.E. Church on Sunday, March 22, 2026, to celebrate its Annual Thanksgiving Anniversary Service. R.A. Driesbach, Sr. Lodge No. 77, established July 18, 1912, and Alameda Court #155 Order of Calanthe proudly hosted the Anniversary Services in obedience to the Proclamation issued by the Supreme Chancellor.
The ceremonies are held each year on a Sunday near March 26th, the date on which the Supreme Lodge was organized in 1880. On hand for the Celebration were Supreme Chancellor Ephraim Bryant and Supreme Worthy Inspectrix, Sis Fannie Bellamy.
The Anniversary Message was delivered by Reverend Christopher Jordan, Pastor of New Bethel AME Church, Port Saint Joe, FL, and inspired attendees with words of encouragement from the chosen Theme for the Celebration, “Strength in Togetherness”.
Chancellor Commander Kenneth Monette shared that the Annual Thanksgiving Service continues to be a wonderful opportunity for Brothers, Sisters, and the community to come together in fellowship. He also expressed appreciation for the community's support for the organization’s various initiatives and for the loyal supporters from far and near who continue to support our service projects.
These programs include Bike for Boys and Girls, support through Historical African American Obituaries of North Port St. Joe and Surrounding Areas, scholarship opportunities, and ongoing collaborations with the Order of Calanthe. The Order remains active in important outreach efforts, including supporting sickle cell awareness and helping widows and individuals experiencing homelessness.
