Monday Morning……
During the AM kitten khaos - the first message of soooo many
This kitten was screaming outside of a young man s home…. Could we help?
Normally, I would refer this case to animal control who would then refer to the local animal shelter, but I hesitated and reached out to my partner in all things Cat, Shira from integrity Cat rescue
I was already at work when this young man got back to me, but she agreed to go to the rescue, which is in my home and meet him there and assess.
The photos illustrate a complete circular cut in the Kitten’s tail all the way around and on first glance, it was obvious that there was potential for massive infection, which can lead to sepsis. That the Kitten was in tremendous pain and that the cut already was infested with maggots
While at work, in traffic, at a traffic light, in a parking lot… I reached out to spruce Creek animal clinic and begged for a quick assessment, some antibiotics and the first available spot on a surgery schedule
They agreed to see him immediately, so Shira stopped what she was doing rushed him over there and they actually agreed that amputation was the only solution and asked if he could stay the day. They would try to get it done immediately after another scheduled surgery
I have no words to thank Anthony Nunez for being such a great Samaritan and responsible animal lover - he didn’t have the funds or the knowledge on how to help the Kitten, but he knew it needed help and he brought him to us.
For Shira, who stopped everything she was doing to rush over and receive the Kitten, then take him for medical care and then follow up with me in the afternoon to see how he made out and offer to help me with bottle care and all of the things so I could get him home and settled and still take care of everybody else
To Dr. Golby, the vet techs, and the staff at Spruce Creek animal clinic… Your kindness and your generosity and your ability to handle this for us so quickly and with such grace and efficiency is beyond words
Sir Robert Studman is the given name as he is now a beautiful silver tiger bobtail with an unbelievable personality. So sweet, talkative, kind, purrs all the time and when I went to pick him up, Dr. Golby was at the front desk, holding him and talking to him and just assuring him that everything was gonna be fine and he was just soaking it all in
We haven’t got any idea what happened to him but best guess is that he was sleeping in a car engine and his tail was caught in the fan belt when the car started, but that may not be the story. We don’t believe it to be malicious, but it could’ve been.
This is one little life and a whole village of people that came together to make a difference
This is the reason that I have a rescue. Because to me, every life that makes it to planet Earth matters every species every color both genders every day.
