Grandmaster Jimmi Faralli immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1971 at the age of 10 and began training in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido in March of that same year under Grandmaster Jimmie Brown and Assistant Instructor Wilton Bennett. He earned his first-degree black belt in both arts in 1976 and began teaching soon after. A U.S. Army veteran who enlisted in 1978, GM Faralli won the U.S. TKD Championship superlightweight division in 1979 and defended the title in 1980. He was injured during a classified Middle East operation in 1982, resulting in a 17-month hospital stay and a medical discharge in 1983. In 1984, GM Brown tested him for 4th degree black belt. Though he trained with many renowned martial artists, GM Faralli considers GM Brown his sole instructor and the father figure who shaped his life and martial path.
In 1993, GM Faralli and GM Brown founded the American Hapkido Alliance to advance Hapkido in the United States. In 2007, GM Brown selected GM Faralli to be promoted to 8th degree black belt and to serve as Grandmaster of the organization. In 2016, GM Faralli accepted the induction of GM Brown into the Korean Martial Arts Masters Hall of Fame. After 53 years of training, GM Faralli was promoted to 9th Degree Black Belt on April 20, 2024 by Dojunim Dr. He-Young Kimm at the Korean Martial Arts Festival Banquet with the approval of the Korean Kido Association, becoming one of only two individuals worldwide to receive this rank from Dr. Kimm. He is honored by the masters and black belts he has produced over the last 45 years and believes the Korean Martial Arts Festival has a profound impact on martial arts, his school, and lifelong friendship.
